True enough. Another poster on another thread said, "You cannot reason a person out of a position they did not reach through reason."

And when said persons gain control of the entire apparatus of a state, what then?

When reason, logic, truth and good will have been swept off the table to shatter like cheap crockery, what then?

History provides answers to these questions that none of us like to contemplate. As terrible as the slaughters of the previous century have been, I fear that they will pale in comparison to what this century will see. And we're off to a hell of a start, aren't we?

When playing the 'what if?' game, it's interesting to think about just how far the National Socialists would have gotten if they had been met at the door by a determined householder with a Mauser and twenty rounds of ammunition. How far would the Nazi's genocidal programs have proceeded if each and every potential victim had fought back? Bodies rotting in the streets? Terrible, to be sure - but better theirs than mine or my family's. The calculus here is easy to do. Not so easy, perhaps, to live with. I still prefer to have the choice.

Better to cry havoc and let s;ip the gpgs of wat yjam yo die like a sheep led to slaughter. If when the SS came they gad been met at every dooor with armed resostance by those who were yo die at their hands anyway the youal killed would have been miniscule in comparison to the many millions. It is npt the answer that many want to hear and I do not loke where the logic leads but it leads there none the less.
