Daschle: Stimulus Bill Appears Dead
AP ^ | 2/5/02 | CURT ANDERSON

WASHINGTON - The economic stimulus bill that President Bush says will hasten recovery from recession appears dead in the Senate and will probably be shelved, Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle said Tuesday. Daschle, D-S.D., said neither Republicans nor Democrats will have the 60 votes necessary to win approval of their competing measures — and that the Senate will take up other business on Wednesday.

"It's with great regret I will pull the bill tomorrow," Daschle told reporters Tuesday.

Daschle just handed us a huge campaign issue. He doesn't believe in the Constitution! Never have I heard of requiring 60 votes before something even comes to the floor! Don't let anyone forget that Daschle is an Obstructionist, a Liar, and IMO should be removed from Office. If the rest of the RATS sit back and do nothing, then we need to keep up the pressure until people realize what they have elected when they elected the likes of daschle, clinton, hollings and the rest of the slime.

If this doesn't get people off the dime to get out and work to defeat the RATS, nothing will!

This is an affront to the American people who elected 100 Senators and our Constitution! Don't ever forget what Daschle has just done to this Country!!! And don't let your friends and neighbors forget it either!

After realizing that the "rebate" wasn't a rebate at all, but an advance on our refund, I thought "I hope Bush manages to speed up the real tax cuts

Wrong. Your tax was 15% of the first 45,200 before the rebate and was 15% on the first 45,200 after the rebate. If you prepared your return in a way that you paid back your rebate, I will amend for you so long as you split the refund with me.

Great news! Both the Democrap and GOP economic stimulus bills were socialist and big government to the core and if neither is passed, the chance that we will actually get a balanced budget by default (no thanks to the Bush Administration) are greatly increased as the FY03 deficit will be shrunk to only $3 billion.

Both my Democratic hump Senators received the following email, including a minor fudge in the opening sentence:

While I generally look towards candidates from both parties when deciding who will receive my vote, the actions of Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle will prevent me from voting for any Democrat for congress.

The people of this country are suffering through this economic downturn. Yet the Democrats will not even allow a vote on the President's economic stimulus package.

It is clear to me that the Democratic party is more interested in scoring political points than in serving the needs of their constituents.

As long as you fail to speak out about this, it is clear to me that you welcome a worsening of this recession, because you feel it will provide your party with an "issue" in the coming elections.

I look forward to voting for your next opponent.

I emailed him but don't think it will do much good. Reports are that no one really reads the emails. Phone line was busy last time I tried.

Good - dead! Please call them if you can as well. Burn up the switch board! THAT is what they hear - even more than emails which go in the trash.

Don't just call your Senators - call Tent Lott's office and tell him to get out there and stand up for the American taxpayer - NOW!!!!

Just emailed both of my senators. Thanks for the link. I am furious! Daschle is taking orders from hillary clinton. I am so filled with disgust right now that I can barely type this. We must NOT be silent about this!!!

Here's the best part: We don't need no steenkin' stimulus package. So the little plurality "leader" looks like a fool trying to kill something we don't need anyway. W played this little hick like a toy drum.

Well, it is clear that Tommy the Commie with his fellow DemocRAT Comrades are doing their level best to hurt the already weak economy and stock market to gain more seats in Congress. It's all about POWER with this sick bunch and to hell with everybody else.
