They had to have familiarity with the internet from somewhere otherwise, why would they have used it? And one of them obviously did the typing since it's such a mess.

Dear Arab Scumbags:

1. Learn how to spell.

2. Prepare to die.

Hoping you will be able to explain your actions to God,

President George W. Bush

p.s. Don't mess with the U.S.

the use of U for you is an internet chat room phenomena, if the notes were written by the terrorists and reproduced correctly then whoever wrote it has been on the internet, often.

As for the picture and some other comments I've heard here; We can't even tell who it is with a gun to his head, the face is hidden. I'm no expert but the chains look woefully inadequate for restriction, one hand looks like it's almost worked it's way out already. We can't see the hands of the gun wielder so don't know if they have callouses or not. Most reporters would be close to some kind of populated area, at least as a base. Near the base of operations would be the most likely place for a planned abduction. Populated areas often have running water and some people even keep their clothes clean.

I don't know what to make of it all but as I have also seen posted here already, it smells bad.

Given that emails are pretty easy to track

Are you kidding? "re"-mailers are easy as hell to crack. Hell, as recent as six months ago, .mil sendmail servers were still some of the top choices for anon e-mail. Headers are surprisingly easy to fake..

Also, the use of the internet for all communication suggests an urban environment

Ummm..huh? It's very easy these days to use Cell phones with a laptop, satellite comm. I was with Westinghouse for a while, we had engineers in the field that had sat phones and they passed their data during certain times (when the sat was overhead)..Maybe our resident G-men outta look at the timestamps of the e-mail (not server timestamps, but pattern of comm sent)..That could provide a clue.

Most of the press is liberal, I understand the liberal press and news media are very proud of their enlightened detachment from making moral values about what they are reporting on, so I took her statement to mean that he is of that same mindset. Maybe he can reason with them and influence his captors to release him unharmed if he promises to use the word freedom fighter instead of terrorist, they may be reasonable people.

How did the kidnappers find out that he was Jewish?

Once they had him, they probably searched his room. As for the claim of his being Mossad, I'm sure they'd say that about anyone to gain sympathy among the local population. I think it's a given that whoever took him is getting help from the ISI. The ISI, according to Bodansky, were instrumental in setting up the terrorist camps in the first place. While some support the west, I suspect many, if not most, actually support the terrorists.

OTOH, I expect the ISI will, in the end, eventually negotiate his freedom. They've had enough experience with the west to know what happens if the Europress decides to turn on them.

It is encouraging that Muhammad Ali is speaking out asking for kindness and compassion. One of the few American Muslims doing anything....

Yair.

Muhammad Ali is a dead-set Capital "C" Champion.

But care to name two other "doing anything" American muslims?

[And where, come to that, are the execrable revvvughruuundhhs Jekksin and Shaaghptin and all of the rest of the stinking, race-bating, poverty-pimping, standover and shakedown industry on this one?]

I pick the side of our service men that will have to risk their lives now to go in and try to free this moral desert from the mess he got himself into.

Me too. IMHO, not one American servicemen's life should be put at risk to save this grandstanding jerk from the consequences of his own reckless actions.

Let the WSJ negotiate a dollar amount for his release, then let the WSJ pay it...or not.

Our servicemen have important work to do right now, "Saving Daniel's @ss" shouldn't be on the agenda.
