New Zealander builds Hobbit hole A New Zealand man has built a Hobbit house. Carl Gifford, a stonemason from Wellington, says he used a 10-tonne digger to make the hole. He's put rocks either side of the front door and plans to install a chimney and lantern on top. He told the Evening Post he was embarrassed as he was constructing the home. He said: "I must admit I was hiding as the cars were driving past. I thought, 'These people think I'm an idiot'." The house is part of a series of stonework mounds, designs and sculptures dotted around his land. "I'm just having a bit of fun. Things that were built by those ancient people like caves have always fascinated me." |

I REALLY need to see the movie again.Yes, you do! So do I!

Yeah, I've learned that the collector's edition has like Elvish lyrics written out (presumably for fireside singalongs; "Everybody now!...."), and special pockets, but otherwise is the same... but for more money!
I'm still looking to find out why so much is MISSING!

Hmm.. I have the collector's edition, it was on sale and only $13. I'm very happy with it, and it has all the bits I liked the best from the movie - the Hobbit-music bit, the stuff from Moria (that's scary) and the tearjerking bits at the end. I did not originally like 'May it Be', but it's grown on me quite a bit.

I went to the
official sound track web site, and see nothing of any other edition. )c8
What were they thinking? Those opening strains are wonderful, haunting; how could they skip it? Imagine if the Star Wars sound track had left off the opening fanfare! Good grief.

$13 is reasonable...may I ask where you got it?
To: 2Jedismom
Borders, the week after the movie came out. Sometimes you just run across specials, and this was one of the times. (It was even cheaper once I got my sisters to go shares. CD burners are a lovely thing... and I keep the original.
Think how much money LotR stuff has been generating - help the economy! Go to the movie, buy a really nice copy of the books, get a frame for those pics of Aragorn that you've downloaded and keep where they're the first thing you see in the morning...

Thank you for reminding me - I am now listening to the sound of Hobbit-fluty-music as I sit at my own laptop, using a finally repaired internet connection. Now, to download a new desktop theme....

He indulges me to a point but I think that might not fly. LOL!

Bad link ... Please post it again ... thanks

Actually, I've got more hobbit and Legolas pics than anything else. I wouldn't mind a Legolas poster, for sure.
I have a gripe: why oh why do they not have individual posters of EACH Fellowship member available? I love 'em all, but I've only seen posters of Aragorn, Gandalf, Frodo and Legolas, plus a few combined pictures.
To: JenB
Are you saying you are listening to the fluty music that you downloaded from the internet? Where???
To: RosieCotton
I would like to get a poster of the Fellowship, but I don't know where to get one!!
To: 2Jedismom
No, sorry, it's fluty music on my CD. If you're looking for music, and it is available - legally - online, there might be a link from theonering.net to it. (But I think the CD was worth the cost.) I've got the Mines of Moria sequence on now....
As for the Aragorn matter, hey, I'm very single right now... and a girl can dream, can't she? ;-)

It was only a matter of time, before someone built a Hobbit Hole.
To: 2Jedismom
My sisters got a lot of posters by going to theatres, bookstores, etcetara and begging like crazy. It worked.... their room is decked out. They must have over two dozen different images of various characters. (For some reason, one of my sisters insists Boromir is hotter than Aragorn. I don't understand her at all.)
I also have seen posters available online, through various fan sites or Ebay. Again, TheOneRing is a good place to start looking.

To: JenB
You sure bet you can dream! And dreams come true! My dear husband and I are just as wild about each other as Aragorn and Arwen.
But I do have to be careful, I once made too much over Patrick Stewart (I like it when he says "Engage!" on Star Trek) and my husband snorted and said "Great, now I have to compete with a bald guy!" LOL Too funny! He was just teasing me, and he knows I'm just being silly.
To: RosieCotton
Yes... all the best men - in LotR and real life too, it seems! - are already taken. Aragorn, Faramir (you won't catch me messing with Eowyn!)... the hobbits are too short, and the Elves - well, Elves are 'a bit above my likes and dislikes'.

My CD has that opening. Then goes right into "Concerning Hobbits."
