Some FReepers have nicks that are obvious in their origin, others don't. I've seen several that probably have interesting stories behind them.
I thought it would be cool to see where FReepers get their handles from. If you don't like this topic, DON'T POST HERE! No one forces you to read this. I'm sure other people may be interested. If I'm the only one, let me know so I can crawl away in shame.
Nope, no need to explain.
Coo-yah... Man! you have messed me up for the rest of the night. I would love a big bowl of ce. Went duck hunting the other day and got a good mess and with the ones we will get tomorrow, that will make for a good gumbo.
Did you say you were in skool? where?
Country 'n Western?
Oh my, I'm laughing so hard I'm about to pass out. That was hilarious.
My screen name is pretty obvious.
When I was in the Air Force, one of the guys I worked with was from LA...his brother flew for an airline, and his mom used to send out a couple pounds of fresh crawfish every few weeks. Dave made the most awesome CE...heck, he was an awesome cook on anything...but the CE was the best.
I am a conservative :-)
Big 'D' Democrat and small 'r' Republican heel.
I logged on in '94 and was sickened by Clinton and his butt-boys and rino's who let him get away with it. I've been squelching the muffled cries for mercy from Liberals, virtually, ever since.
Brainless, soccermom, minivanned, domineering feminists make me nuts, but one time in 1999, just as election 2000 talk was heating up, we were at a family gathering and something about Oprah came up. I'd known my older sister was an Oprah fan, but suddenly she got very quiet, lowered her eyes, looked up meekly, and in the most lowly, reverant, worshipful tone of voice said:
"I think she should run for president...."
It wasn't so much what she said, as how she said it, and the expression on her face. Genuine prostration, like for that moment she was on holy ground or something. Scary. I was stunned. All I could think of then, was that I doubted she would be that reverant toward God Himself. Not to mention this feminist pied piper really could rise to world power.
So then a few weeks later I was flipping the channels about 9:30ish, and came across the show, and it surprised me how different it was, as I hadn't watched her since the eighties. Ever sit down and watch just an average Oprah show lately? Her "spin" is very subtle, all cocooned in sugary caring-about-people-do-good-for-others feelings, but it's very strong and very leftist. You don't have to fear and love God, as long as you're "spiritual."
"SPIRITUAL?" What does that mean? Really big on angels, but not on God Himself.
What truly frightens me is the people in the audience, and again, the expressions on their faces. Complete adulation. Worshipers. It occurred to me that most of these chicks would be pressed to give the Lord himself the time of day.
So I wanted to run out and have my own bumper sticker printed that, in very small, beautiful, feminine letters would read:
But my back window already says, in collegiate lettering
and didn't want Rush to get blamed. Not to mention I might as well have painted a target on the car.
So anyway, a year or so later one of the local columnists wrote a piece in the Sun-Times in which he opined that Oprah has a messiah complex. As far as I know, he still has a job.
It's time for me to go to bed.
I wasn't even thinking about shotgunning.
</humility With my Benelli Super Black Eagle 12 ga (shoots 5 rounds in less than 1 second imported by HK) I will hit 25 of 25 skeet. With the Remington 870 Super Mag... same thing. <humility
