The Daschles Dirty Family Fortune
I want to make the clear connection that exists between Tom Daschle and the example of Enron. There is a clear connection between the money that is earned by the Daschle family - that's Tom and his wife, Linda - and I assume they filed a joint return - from her lobbying. Mrs. Daschle lobbies for American and Northwest Airlines, so there has to be a connection between that income and recent legislation her husband pushed through the Senate in record time to help her clients.
We know that there was legislation rammed through the Senate that helped American Airlines and helped Northwest, and she is their paid lobbyist. Now, you can put the dots on the paper and you can put names to the dots. You can draw lines and put dollar signs on the page. If you do that, it all matches up, right? Tom Daschle never recused himself over any appearance of a conflict or the existence of a real conflict. Yet guess who has recused himself in the Enron investigation: John Ashcroft. The man received a donation for a losing Senate campaign!
Based on Linda Daschle's connections to this multi-billion dollar boon for the airline industry, which won them not only bailout money but took the burden of paying for security off of them and shifted it to the American taxpayer, why isn't there an investigation of this? Shouldn't there be one? We looked into Ed Meese for much less than this during the 80s. We looked into Ray Donovan and, in his words, destroyed his reputation for a whole lot less than this.
There was nothing where Meese and Donovan were involved and there is far more here going on with the Daschles than any connections between Enron and Bush and Cheney. Read this column from this guy Calloway on CBS Market Watch, which I dissected in Hour One of Thursday's show, and even he who is desirous of all sorts of pain and suffering descending upon Bush admits that there will not be any direct harm to Bush.
There are no allegations here, and the most Calloway says will happen is the lid will be raised on how business is done in Texas. Yip yip yip yip yahoo! A whole lot more than that is going on between Daschle and Daschle than there is between Enron, Bush, and Cheney. Why doesn't Henry Waxman want to sniff around into Daschle and Daschle? Why doesn't Joe Lieberman or Carl Levin want to look into this on the Senate side, hmm?
Well, clearly because they support the Puffster, and they don't want to embarrass him or hurt their party. You can understand that. Contrarily, we have a Republican president who has ordered his justice department to look into one of his leading contributors, have we not? Yes, we have! The Republicans in Congress are participating in investigations of Enron. Yet I hear no suggestions whatsoever about investigations into the Daschle-Daschle-American-Northwest connection. Zip, zero, nada.
It seems to me there are more grounds there than there are in Enron. And again, you never see the Democrats initiating anything against themselves. They are always dragged kicking and screaming into it, and then once they get there they do their level best to obstruct everything. Democrats always try to obstruct investigations into their own people, and they've succeeded, because the Republicans during the impeachment period had, literally, no gonads.
But in this situation you have the Republicans leading the investigation into Enron. That's a huge difference, and a big-time double standard.
FOLLOW THE MONEY, Republicans!
Just wait until the cochlear inplant is hooked up!!
Are you LISTENING Trent?????????

Both olympia snowe R Maine and susie collins R Maine have taken money from communist China the abortion indeustry, the anti gun lobby, and a bunch of other left wing radicals.
First the R's need to clean their own house. Going after the D's and their money is like the pot calling the kettle black.

I agree that it was bad legislation, but Bush signed it.
