Bush on Kennedy: 'I actually like the fellow' ... "He is a fabulous United States senator," the president said.
-----------------------
I like George Bush. He has turned out to be every bit the brainless superficial nincompoop I said he would be two years ago. In so doing, he has made me look like a genius. --which I am.

Every spending bill for God-knows-how-many years has been "the largest spending bill ever".

He will visit a John Deere plant in Moline, Ill., a farm seed mill in Aurora, Mo., and the port of New Orleans to talk up his latest proposals for free trade as a way to create jobs in order to strengthen the market.
----------------------
That bit of mindless chatterboxing ought to lose a few million votes. Unless we can keep one hell of a war going to maintain unconditional jingoistic patriotic fervor, Hillary will be in in 2004.
With the amount of technology we are exporting, the investment in foreign countries, the loss of jobs. the country should be a basket case depression.
Like father, like son.

This is an idiotic post! Someone please sight one example of a war that the United States fought without running a deficit!! Someone name me one defense contractor that works for free!!! If you want to blame someone, then blame the man who is responsible for wasting our nation's supply of cruise missles bombing empty tents- William Jefferson Clinton. He is the reason that we have to spend money to re-equip, and re-supply the Military. As for the expanded entitlement programs the World Trade Center was attacked and destroyed- remember!?! The U.S. economy took a BIG hit!!! This is an exception to the rule!!! We are at war, and we have a set of circumstances that require immediate action, if our nation is to recover quickly. I swear I think some of you are down with the TALIBAN!!! This post belongs on the Democratic Underground site!!!

You should never have posted this. Upon the inauguration of Dubya, Free Republic stopped being an oasis of truth in the quagmire of chaos that is the Internet. Instead, it is a brain-washing device for the religious right and a promotional vehicle for the Republican party. The only posts welcome here anymore are publicity pics of the President's day, racist anti-Islam propaganda and stories reversing 200 years of science on evolution.
Please don't expose these poor souls to the truth. They don't care about the truth. They "won," don't you know, and to a generation raised on video games, that's all that matters.

Every year it's the largest ever. Haven't ever seen it smaller. It's always adjusted up for inflation.

In the meantime, Daniels, director of the Office of Management and Budget, while not offering an exact dollar figure, said this year's budget shortfall will be less than 1 percent of the size of the U.S. economy. That would translate into about $100 billion or less, figuring that the economy is now about $10 trillion strong.
Where is this 10 trillion dollars?
Is it in goods and services?
Is it in cash in the bank?
Is it in accounts payable to this country by other economies that are almost defunct?
Is it in gold in Ft Knox or other precious metals worth 10 trillion dollars?
Or is it like Enron and who knows how many other corporations that not only do not have the proverbial "pot" but can't even get close to a "window"?
Our ability to build a better mouse trap is not worth a lot if nobody but us can buy it!
Positive thinking alone will not improve this country's present condition, nor putting our heads in the sand.
With HONEST and COURAGEOUS leadership from both sides of the aisle, and with God's help and a "long handle spoon", we can get the bitter pill of a solid recovery down.

Don't blame me. I voted for Pat Buchanan.
It seems to me that before the 2000 election it was said on FreeRepublic that Bush wasn't the best choice but he was better than Algore. It was also said that when we got Bush elected we would hold his feet to the fire to get the changes we wanted. Absolutly nothing of importance has been changed during the last year and you Bushies continue to defend him in the same manner that the democrat party protected Bill Clinton. Lies, excuses, distortions, ommisions and additions whenever necessary.
After one year in office the excuse is that is has only been one year and Bush has three more years to go. After two years in office it will be said that it has only been two years and that he has two more years to go. After three years in office it may be said that Bush can't get anything done because of the new democrat house of representatives and the democrat senate. After four years it will be said that Bush can't do anything now because Hillary Clinton is the president.
Har har har, you fools.

It isn't like W hasn't been trying to get our money back to us. The Dashole, however, keeps sucking it back in.

Of course you always knew that 2/3ds of the budget is on auto pilot did ya there Uncle Bill. Entitlement programs. The Budget always gets bigger thanks in part to medical technology. Old people live longer and they collect more SS, Medicare and various other benefits...
The way to judge the budget is to look at its size as a percentage of the economy.

I keep forgetting which is a Democrat and which is a Republican.

Thanks Uncle Bill. You are one of the reasons I love this place.
