Former Bill Clinton spokeswoman Jennifer Palmieri criticized President Bush's handling of the Enron scandal on Sunday, saying it had already become "a major problem" for the White House that would likely damage his image with the public.
"Even if no more damaging information comes out, this is a major problem for this administration," Palmieri told the New York Times. "It is going to damage the president's credibility and it's going to hurt their ability to get their message out."
Palmieri was one of three spokeswomen hired by Mr. Clinton after he left the White House last year. Over initial objections by Democratic National Committee officials, Clinton had Palmieri installed as DNC press secretary.
The former Clinton spokesgal suggested that the Enron scandal would pose a much more difficult challenge for the Bush administration than the 9/11 attacks and the ensuing war on terrorism.
"Since Sept. 11, they have all performed well under ridiculous pressure," she told the Times. "But they have never been through anything like this."
Palmeiri's Enron remarks would have likely been cleared with top Democratic Party officials, and possibly even with the ex-president himself.
In exclusive comments to NewsMax.com last year, Palmeiri denied gossip column reports that her then-boss had become a regular at several bars and saloons in Chappaqua, NY, the town where the former first couple settled after leaving the White House.

I would imagine that Bush has the ability to let lots of things run down his back. However, these charges attack and question his character. I don't think he will allow this to stand. That said, I believe Clinton's biggest worries have to be the FBI underlings who will investigate this matter. These are the same folks who saw hard evidence against Clinton tossed aside by Reno and Holder. They will want to regain their credibility and exact a certain amount of revenge. Just my half-pence. gbc.

I think you hit the nail right on the head. Clinton may get what he has coming to him soon. The Republicans must come out swinging NOW!

Now, let's see what we have. Enron donated lots of money to Clinton, and got favors in return.
Enron donated lots of money to Bush, and did NOT get favros in return.
I'd say Enron made a much better investment in "renting" Bill Clinton than it did in attempting to rent George Bush.
I'd also say that Clinton and all his apologists, including thie woman, are collectively a steaming pile of horse hockey, in Col. Potter's immortal words.
Did I miss anything?

I think the the "disclosure" by sources in the Treasury Dept. that Rubin called to ask for help was the Bush administration's "shot across the bow". I think they are fully prepared to implicate the Clinton adminstration in this, and were asking "Do you really want to go there?"
Fortunately, the media seems too be stupid to take the hint. They will be rather shocked, I think, when they realize that their witch-hunt has backfired...

Is this "Clinton Spokesgal" the same triple balcony, newly-hired intern pictured in the supermarket tabloids?

Still waiting to learn of the "damaging information."

Me too! Another thread had 8 questions for Bush to answer. Has everyone forgotten the burden he has had to carry the last four months? Planning a war, etc. No wonder the press is one of the least respected professions (I use that term loosely) out there.

"this is a major problem for this administration"
"this administration" which one is she talking about - because the only admin in trouble is the one she is representing. This is just another example of the "projection" technique being used to accuse Bush of doing what they are doing themselves. We already know Clinton is involved; Lanny Davis already spilled the beans when he told the dems to leave it alone.
