Yes, the rumors are true. I had the opportunity to ask our president a question today.
First, it began with a statement. Sorry, but I don't remember it exactly ----- Mr. President, my son-in-law recently returned from a cruise on the USS ENTERPRISE. He wants you to know that everyone on that ship, down to the last man and woman, is proud to call you their commander in chief.
He smiled and the crowd gave a huge standing O.
Then one of the event helpers tried to take away the microphone. I politely said no, I hadn't gotten to ask my question.
"Mr. President, now for my question. After you send Tommy Daschle to his room for being bad, please tell us how you plan to end our nation's dependence on foreign oil."
What a fun time and a great right wing audience!

...and the president did not respond when one man in the hand-picked Republican audience asked Bush about making ``Tommy Daschle go to his room for being bad.I have never been as proud to be a FReeper as I am today (and that's saying a lot, because I am always very proud of being a FReeper)! He did not take the opportunity to comment on Daschle It's obvious that President Bush is trying his damndest to keep from "naming names". But I'm sure that he was grateful that you did. When he talks about the Senate holding things up, most (or at least many) people know who he's talking about. Your question focused it to "little Tommy". And I don't think that it was lost on anyone listening.
Kudos!!! BTW, your comment about the Big E and Commander in Chief was brilliant. When I repeated it to my son tonight - he spent the Gulf War on the TR (CVN-71) - it choked me up. Bravo.

Just got done watching the speech/Q&A on CSPAN. Well done, Doug!
Great message from the Enterprise (the POTUS was visibly moved), great comment, and great question.
I was very touched when the chaplain asked what the President needed in prayer, and when he also expressed pride in his CinC. That was a nice moment.
President Bush is such a breath of fresh air. We are so blessed. I was too young and stupid to really appreciate Ronald Reagan in the 80's - but I honestly love GWB and Laura.

Oh Man.....do I love that white hat Bush picture on your profile page! That one and the one of him dancing with Laura at the inaugural ball, gazing at her with his loving smile, are my two favorites among the many of them.
