Fresno, CA Peacenik FReep 1-4-02

Only eight people attended tonight's Peacenik FReep in Fresno, California, but we had a lot of fun! We had a couple of people who were walking by stop for a while, pick up a sign or flag, and join us.

The peaceniks across the street outnumbered us as usual, but the Fresnans that we talk to are flabbergasted that American citizens are actually against the war effort and we continue to get lots of support from people driving by.

JustAmy made a sign today to show which side of the street "Pro-terrists" congregate on and to point out that we are "Proud Americans". This sign really outraged the peaceniks and a couple of them had to come over to our side of the street and say so.

In DC during the looney left's anti-war march down Pennsylvania Ave, they fumed at our "Welcome Bin Laden Fan Club" signs. A few came up and said the signs were "unfair".

Right, but they had signs that labeled us as fascists. They don't see anything wrong with that.

See, the problem is that sometimes people drive by the peaceniks and see them for what they are. Then they drive by us and without taking the time to read our signs, they think we are affiliated with the peaceniks.

The opposite is also true, people honk their support as they drive by us. Then without noticing what the peaceniks' signs say, they cross the street and honk for the other side too, thinking that they are a part of our group.

We just want everyone to notice that we are two very different groups. We don't want to be associated with any group that is against what our government is doing to get rid of the threat of terrorism.

Chris took a couple shots of the peaceniks and their swastika signs on Amy's camera. I told the creeps that we were going to publish them on the front page of the Fresno Bee.
