[history]
THE folks at Msnbc are talking to former Republican presidential candidate and former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Alan Keyes about hosting a 10 p.m. show up against Fox News' new hire, Greta Van Susteren. Meanwhile, Van Susteren, a lawyer before her O.J. Simpson commentary turned her into a CNN star, reportedly has penned an eight-page memo detailing CNN's demerits. She plans to keep the document secret as long as CNN doesn't try to paint her as an ungrateful traitor.

Would sure love to see a lot of that TEAL all over the place here. :)So would I, but I can understand why we don't.

The GOP always picks the team player. Why do you think Bob Dole got the nomination in 1996? He took the left and center, about 55%. He was a team player. You have effectively delineated the problem. Where's ol' Bob now, other than in erectile dysfuntion commercials? I know, Pat did him in.

Sorry. The people that were involved that night are NOT here; if they EVER say that they didn't say that, then we will post them. It was only brought up in light of the "Keyes people don't call dirty names" defense.
No need to do it during this free for all.
And please don't try to DARE us to do it; if you do, we will and a lot of people who weren't on those threads will be thoroughly shocked by some of the words that were posted.

To do a little fact checking, go back and check out Keyes threads that have less than a hundred posts. Usually that means that the usual suspects did not show up and start a flame war. You will generally find calm discussion of issues, with virtually no personalities discussedIn other words, Keyes threads die a pretty quick & painless death unless there is a flame war. Must explain why KFP tried to start one with his title a couple of weeks ago; otherwise no one would care what Keyes has to say.
Just like they aren't gonna care if he gets his MSNBC show.

"To do a little fact checking, go back and check out Keyes threads that have less than a hundred posts. Usually that means that the usual suspects did not show up and start a flame war." Well, now, that's a little spin on history.....isn't it, Sulla? Check your facts man, some of us do save threads that get nuked, you know......

..."And most voters don't, either"....City your sources, please....and be sure to include anything to do with name recognition.....I daresay you'll find that his name was little more recognized at election time than it was in January or February 2000. It's not very 'fair' to say most voters don't when the fact is most voters don't know who the hell he is. :)

Remember the list of names we were called -- well you can now add ignorant for me since I was told that on this thread!

We shall see, hopefully. Keyes strikes me as thin on foreign policy, and government waste has not been a topic I have ever heard him discuss. He has discussed the government not doing a bunch of stuff because it is unconstitutional in his eyes (contrary to all settled SCOTUS precedent), but that puts folks to sleep. He needs to get to the merits.

How about "restoring honor and decency to the White House," which he has done. He did NOT campaign on a pledge to prosecute the Clintons. You will not find that anywhere in his campaign speeches or writings. He wanted to remove the poison of the Clinton years from the public discourse.
Now, you can disagree with him about whether or not he should prosecute (I go back and forth sometimes about this myself) but he never said he would do so.

OK, let me find out how to freepmail a word file. Since the entire thread is a couple hundred posts long, I doubt Jim would appreciate it being posted here.
To: carenot
"The only thing that I see that Keyes had wrong was the "Bush can't win"." Well, LOL! Considering that Keyes is still hitting that same one-note tune, I'd consider that more than a little wrong at this point.

"Keyes continues run for president"
# 399 by deport ************************
You're repeating what's already been said,
and acting like a link to something already admitted
will make a difference.
Yes, Keyes continued to run,
even after he had no chance of winning.
He also decided to run to began with,
even though he had no chance of winning.
The reason is the same in both instances.
To put his ideas into action.
He has no moral requirement
to refrain from running for office,
even if the cause seems hopeless.

The GOP always picks the team player, and Keyes is not. Keyes can't be the team player because then he'd have to deal with people he considers evil. In the Keyes mind, if Keyes deals with evil people than what is he? Evil.

The debates were not the only place to discuss moral arguments. And, of course, there would have been many ways to bring it into the debates.....trade with China, for instance, or other foreign policy matters. But then, in the case of abortion (which is not the only moral crisis we are facing), was not on Bush's radar screen.
And its obvious we won't agree over why the election was close, either. :)

What doesn't make sense is for others (apparently not you) to attack and put down others who support GW because they agree with him. No one has been attacked here for supporting Bush. They have been attacked for attacking Keyes, and anyone who supports Keyes. Tactics that are used in self defense can justifiably be stronger than those used to launch an attack. (Perhaps I am not clear, an example of what I mean is that our bombings of Tokyo, Hiroshima, and Nagasaki could not have been justified to most Americans, if the Japanese hadn't bombed Pearl Harbor)
To: exodus
Yes, Keyes continued to run, even after he had no chance of winning. I believe what they are saying is that his campaign remains open, and he's still collecting money from anyone stupid enough to send it, even though the election was over a year ago.
I haven't fact checked this myself, but it's been alleged on many Keyes threads recently.

Man, you'd think Keyes had just announced that he was going to oppose Bush in 2004, instead of this being just a rumor that the good Doctor might get a TV show.
I could wade in, and start to deconstruct the malicious lies, the distortions of history, and the slanderous drivel that oozes from every pore of this thread, but I have better things to do.
I'm busy figuring out how best to facilitate the retirement of Tom Daschle, Paul Wellstone, Tom Harkin, and Jean Carnahan, to name a few. In fact I'm spending most of my waking moments doing so.
And...shock of shocks!!---I once supported Alan Keyes!
*GASP*...I even once worked for him!!
NOTICE (to all who didn't notice): The presidential campaign ended over a year ago...George W. Bush won!!
The vitriol of those who hate Alan Keyes never ceases to amaze me...and this thread is the most vivid demonstration of it yet.
Hey guys...Why don't y'all go find something positive to do, rather than trashing your fellow Christian and Conservative.
