And justice for none

© 2002 WorldNetDaily.com

There is something very wrong inside the Justice Department of the United States and there has been for some time.

Various newspapers are now reporting that under President Clinton, the Federal Bureau of Investigation was ordered to stand down on various terrorist investigations.

One of the most egregious examples is the failure of the bureau to investigate fundraising organizations like "The Holy Land Fund," based in Arizona, which allegedly funneled millions of dollars in donations to Middle Eastern terrorists.

Although the Bush administration has now frozen the assets of the fund, it was apparently allowed to operate for 8 years despite the FBI intelligence that was presented to Mr. Clinton and then-Attorney General Janet Reno. One bureau source told the press that Ms. Reno felt any investigation of "The Holy Land Fund" would lead to anti-Arab sentiment and therefore was opposed to such an investigation.

As always, Ms. Reno will not comment on any aspect of her tenure as attorney general that is at all controversial.

There is no question now that under Ms. Reno and then-FBI Director Louis Freeh, Americans were put at great risk. The Wen Ho Lee-Chinese espionage case still has not been explained, and the fact that the 19 Sept. 11 terrorists weren't even on the FBI's radar screen is about as frightening as Janet Reno's passion for political correctness.

The current attorney general, John Ashcroft, has made no attempt to examine Ms. Reno's bizarre behavior or update the public about the Marc Rich investigation or anything else. Mr. Ashcroft specializes in looking dour and stonewalling. While Congress is attempting to get documents about President Clinton's dubious foreign fundraising and FBI abuses in Boston, Ashcroft is refusing to cooperate at all.

And this isn't a political issue. Conservative Congressman Dan Burton and liberal Congressman Barney Frank have actually joined forces to try and pry this information from Ashcroft's hands. If that's not amazing, then nothing is.

The truth is that for nearly 8 years, the Justice Department has been corrupt and inefficient. Janet Reno botched nearly every important decision she had to make including Waco and Elian Gonzalez. Time after time, Ms. Reno refused to approve investigative initiatives sought by the FBI. And time after time, Mr. Freeh sat in his plush government office refusing to let the American people know what was happening.

Now Mr. Ashcroft is doing the same thing. There is no reason on this earth why the public should not know the status of the Rich pardon probe. Or the anthrax investigation. And what about Enron, Mr. Attorney General – are you going to look into that? Millions of Americans were hosed while some Enron executives made millions.

How about a comment on that, Mr. Ashcroft?

For far too long the attorney general and his band of political appointees have held themselves above public accountability. How many times have we heard the phrase: "We're not allowed to comment, the case is under investigation"?

That, of course, is one big lie. The attorney general can legally comment on anything but grand jury testimony.

Janet Reno hightailed it out of Washington without clearing up a single controversy. Now she rides around in her truck asking the people of Florida to elect her governor. Hey, good choice if you love fascism. Ms. Reno is the kind of public servant who makes decisions and feels no need to explain them. The Third Reich would have loved her.

The tragedy of the Justice Department is it is our fault. We Americans simply will not pay attention to the corruption of this very important part of our government even after 9-11. We allow the stonewalling, the political correctness and the incompetence.

And it's just a matter of time before we pay the price for our apathy again.

Thanks for the heads up! When he originally threatened to use executive privilege I wondered why on thread - because IMHO, it can be easily defeated if there is probable cause of criminal conduct. (Nixon tapes for instance.) So I still wonder if the administration actually wants the congress to force the information out of them in court - so that, when they discover all the misconduct, the press and public cannot finger this administration as being "out to get" the Clintons and crew?
Thanks, AG! That was exactly my first take on his executive privilege claim. It still makes sense to me!

By the way, I'm sure if the files are dragged out of the administration, I have faith the press will either:

1. Twist it all around and find someone (likely a Republican) to blame for it.
2. Shut down coverage on it - as if there's any REAL coverage on it now?? (Example: The Ron Brown case).

It will be interesting to see how it develops. The press will surely avoid exposing anything hurtful to the left, especially if it shows their own past bias. The public however has been voting with their pocketbook and giving the nod to FoxNews and alternatives - and away from CNN, printed news and network news. It'll be interesting...

What I still do not understand is that the Justice Dept, in just a few months, has been very successful in tracking down the terrorist organizations.
However almost a year later nothing has been done about klinton, hitlrey or anyone involved with Chinagate.
Now reno is running for office
and if hitlrey ends up running in '04 for President it will be because this Justice Dept decided they want her to run.

"President Bush used executive privilege to block release of the information that Dan Burton et al (Now Barney Frank joins him???)."

I confess, I do not get this. It seems so obviously wrong.

Hard to believe, isn't it? It's kinda complicated. This should catch you up. . .

Bush, Ashcroft, and the rest of the administration have reviewed the files and see so much corruption and illegalites from SCUMBAG'S regime that they have decided not to prosecute or pusue anything.
Kind of hard to ignore the obvious isn't it. Does not this administrations inaction condone further corrupt and illegal actions since all now know that through knowing inaction it is now permissible to do as one wills once ensconced in a position of power?
Once released into the open pasture an animal is loath to return to the confines and constrictions of the barn or paddock. A bucket of feed might help in coaxing the animal back in, but it is still difficult, since the animal intuitively, instinctively knows that it can freely graze at its leisure.

They want other countries in "coalitions" with us to see us as lilly white without stains.
An implausible excuse. Other nations/countries know as much, if not more, than the American Citizens and they see the duplicity and culpability as well. A lousy "reason". Better to wash the dirty laundry and then wave newly cleaned drawers under their noses while holding their dirty "panties" under their own noses. Nothing like doing laundry to rid skivvies of skid marks. I know of no other means to get them out than with a thorough washing. I guess some just like to wear sh|tt\|/ drawers.

Justice and "all men are created equal" is in the history books of the U.S.--it is gone in the present and may never appear again in the future.
And yet you still desire to work within the very system that has created this situation.
I'm afraid the two-party system (aka Humpty Dumpty) is broken and all the King's horses and all the King's men are just milling about smartly. It matters not which side of the wall the fall happens upon.

The DoJ shouldn't be trying to fight terrorism anyway. Their job is to prosecute violations of federal law and terrorism is an act of war, not a simple crime. Ashcroft did diddly before 9/11 about Clinton's crimes and his FBI proved worthless at fighting terrorism then. What has he been doing to fight terrorism since? Diddly doodah, that's what, unless you count pushing for the repeal of the BoR.

Ashcroft is a career politician. He should step down and let a grownup take the reins at Justice, since he can't do anything but whine about the Constitution being in the way of his "success". Let him join Danforth in retirement where they can hold prayer meetings and perform butt covering investigations for the Clinton administration together.

"There is very much a connection between these Islamic "charities" and "fund raisers" within the US and the CIA's Balkans operations."

Absolutly there is and as time goes by we connect the dots even if others dont want to.

I did a post the other day about the Holy Land and its activities. I will see if I can find it. I cant wait for the 'keyword' search to work since the titles usually dont match the info in the article.

You will see the ENRON mess investigated - the media will see to it.
But you'll NEVER see Reno, Clinton, Freeh, Waco, or any othe Leftist scandal investigated - the media do not care.

I would disagree with you in this matter. The media do indeed care, and to a great deal for that matter.
They care in that they do not wish anyone to know that they failed to report something that is widely known as it would then show their culpability in not reporting something of major importance from the start. By their inaction in reporting these matters it shows their, the media's, duplicity and or culpability in covering things up by simply not reporting on them at all. Their "poster boy" would loose as much "face" as they would.
JMO...for what it's worth.
