The mob arrived armed with knives and clubs while Rev. Joy Punnose addressed the 120 missionaries gathered in the small town of Dohad in northern Gujarat, an Indian state where Christians have become almost daily targets for Hindu mobs.

The kicks, punches and slaps that followed were not unusual in the northern part of this country, the so-called Hindu belt, where dozens of Christian churches went up in smoke this year, an Australian missionary and his two sons were burned alive, another priest was beaten to death, nuns have been gang-raped, congregations terrorized and priests made to walk naked through village streets.

I have a very hard time believing this story.. if you know anything of Hindus.. this just doesn't fit.

AM CURIOUS what you find doesn't fit about it.

I studied for approx 9 university course hours--3 hours per year for 3 years from a Hindu in my BA program. I disagree with you. From what I know, it fits entirely.

Besides all that--virtually any individual or group has a CAPACITY to become violent--and many extremely so. . . .given certain contingencies and conditioning.

Hinduism is so multifaceted, one "god" can be construed as creative and another as extremely destructive. Given the belief in reincarnation--killing is just assisting someone into their next incarnation. . . .

But rabid belief acted out by insecure, hostile, disaffected, perceived as threatened etc. sorts of folk can readily join up with the likes of Bin Laden or a rampaging mob of Hindus against those they feel threat from--real or imagined.

Well, if Christians are killed, raped, and otherwise persecuted in both Pakistan and India, I see no problem with reporting it. The truth is the truth. It just shows me there are no good guys in the fight.

Initially I was of the opinion that this guy's anti-Hindu rants as a front for his pervers pro-Islamist/anti-war rants don't belong in this forum. But now I feel it's a good thing - it alerts us to the dangers within.

His MO is to slander everything non-Islamic, without mentioning Islam itself. Let's beware!

Neither do I. I have a problem with this particular Freeper posting a two year old article, just as it seems Pakistan and India are about to go to war. The fact that he sides with Muslims in every single conflict is telling. I don't think he is at all concerned with Christian persecution in India or anywhere else.

Give me one example. . .anyone from the other major religions--who claims that Christianity is an evil religion.

Ever see Eisner's movie "The Priest"? Ever hear Alan Dershowitz talk about Christians? Ever read what Norman Lear's group "People for the American Way" has to say about Christians?

Get real. There is incredible hate against Christians out there. Odd thing is, those under attack are the most loyal supporters Israel has. No good deed goes unpunished I suppose.

You are denying what countless Christians are testifying to -- the murder of Catholic priests, the laws that require "registering" Christian converts with the Indian government, the mob attacks by Hindu nutballs on Christians -- and I'm "malevolent"?
