It makes me want to cry everytime I hear him get spun up and his voice really starts sounding high pitched and so un-Rushlike.
Do you think his voice really gets high pitched, or is it that they do that at the studio?
He said before that the audio guys changed the pitch of his voice after people said he sounded like his voice was deeper. People around him say he sounds the same, but radio listeners noticed this, so they did their audio magic with his voice.

I thought so, too. I don't know if I'm just used to his 'new' voice oe if he sounds more like his 'old' voice.

Thanks Sungirl, Let us know if you hear anything.

What is funny is that you get used to it, if you listen to him alot. I'm to a point where he now sounds strange when I hear his old voice.
One of those commericals he does for his show - I dont know what product it is - his voice sounds just terrible. Like he's drunk or had a stroke or something. They need to redo that soundtrack.

Actually re his voice I remember callers saying "your voice is changing" (before he was aware of his ear problems) and he was saying "No - must be your broadcaster - all's well here" - I think he just didn't recognize the change when all his loyal and longtime listeners did. Don't know if catching it "early" would have made any difference. Lord knows it sounds like he's covered every expert on earth.
Its hard to believe how well he's carried on - what a guy!
Prayers for good results, TH54

He sounded very like his old voice the last few days. Amazing since he is deaf!
Getting rid of prednisone did it in my opinion. Pred/ is very heavy duty. My step mother took it.

I think you're right. Prayers for Rush and Marta.
I don't care what his voice sounds like... as long as he keeps talking.

Prayer-type Bump.

I don't care what his voice sounds like... as long as he keeps talking. I agree.
I was worried about his deafness isolating him from the current events, which he always does such a great commentary on. I don't know how he keeps up with things, but he is still sharp and IMHO still the best there is.

From #3Still got that axe to grind, do we?

I have wondered about his voice, that he can no longer hear, seems to have ascended into the treble range. I'm no sound engineer, but can't one of the engineers work on this with an electronic reduction of treble or addition of more base quality to his voice? They do this sort of thing all the time in recording voices, in the movies etc.

Praying hard! Wish Rush the best for me, will you Maggie?

God bless you, Rush.

IMHO still the best there isThat goes without saying :-)

Yeah, they said they did it in Harry Potter to undo Harry's voice change in mid filming. But I found the change to be quite noticeable and confusing to see him go from high voiced to low voiced back to high voiced in a single sequence. I heard they did the same with Macaully Culkin in that animated movie he was in, and I remember that actually working though.
