I think that you may want to prepare yourself for the possibility that you've confused the observation and assumption headings in your post. No offense intended, of course.
I am another who believes this is part of the strategy to co-opt the terminologh of the left. In this way the left is left (get it) with no political platform that resonates with their own. (Yes Islam is a great religion, but some of its adherants must be killed, before they do another great wrong to the West.)
He has done this to education as well, and if you look for this strategy you may see it in aspects of Ashcroft's running of the justice department.
‘Understand the possible reasons for…’ or ‘Acquiesce to without much complaint…’ would either be a better word choices.
