I was listening to KVI570 the other day, and a caller claimed that police could punch in a name and age, and get a list of handguns that person owned. The host, John Carlson, doubted this and asked any listening cops to call in. Sure enough, a cop calls up and stated that the caller was correct. John asked how that was anything other than gun registration, and the cop agreed.

The democRATS are at it again. Here's their chance, and they know it.

Nevermind that terrorists who needed weapons probably bought them on the street.

I've never seen ANY arabs at the gun shows I've been to.

Can non-citizens buy guns? If not, why would their names show up on the list? I've bought a lot of guns over the last several years and every time I fill out the forms, there is always at least one spot asking if the buyer is a US citizen. If it doesn't matter, why ask? Regardless..........Teddy and clan just want another avenue to get at gun owners.

When we got organized as a country and we wrote a fairly radical Constitution with a radical Bill of Rights, giving a radical amount of individual freedom to Americans ..."

"And so a lot of people say there's too much personal freedom. When personal freedom's being abused, you have to move to limit it. That's what we did in the announcement I made last weekend on the public housing projects, about how we're going to have weapon sweeps and more things like that to try to make people safer in their communities."

President Bill Clinton, 3/22/94,

"We can't be so fixated on our desire to preserve the rights of ordinary Americans ..."

Kennedy and Schumer are at it again, gee, what a surprise. Frankly my dog has more on the ball than these two, and I think he was hit on the head as a puppy.

Maybe I'm just tired, but I think this one is gonna pass. And included in it will be the permanent storage of 4473 records by States, or they will lose their road money, or HUD support, or Medicaid, or some other carrot that the ridiculous commerce clause extensions have given Congress. Voila! National registration database "available" to the FBI/DEA/BATF/IRS/etc, without the 2A issues because it's the States. And forget about the 14th ever being extended to cover the 2nd by the SC.

the federal records created when a buyer applies to buy a firearm

Back in the "Reno days" weren't we told this "record" would be deleted after 24 hrs, and no database would be maintained? Do they now want access to a database that we were told never would be kept?

So far all of the terrorist have been aliens, no American Citizens. For anyone other than an American Citizen to purchase a gun is a crime already. The current record check should show whether there is a record of birth in the State and city claimed. The records have already been checked for relevant information.

I ask again and again, why is there a gun registry in this country. It matters very little how they mistitled it, these records are not suppose to exist.

All the democrats are really mad about is that this war is a one man show and that one man is President Bush, that is the sum total of their concern. They want face time, they want in on the action to impress their lousy, mindless, constituents. They want to be able to point to themselves and say, look at the crucial role I played in bringing in the big win. What a bunch of hyprocites and liars.

Now it is clear that the Fed is keeping names of gun owners. Isn't that a clear violation of something? When buying a gun, and they check to see if your a criminal, wasn't the law that the record of your purchase had to be destroyed within 24 hours of it's ok'ed? So what is this database of gun owner names anyone have any information on it?

Many a Union worker owns a personal protection firearm. Make that link in the debate and the Dems will implode- it's that simple, but nobody will do it- the Repugs don't have the smarts to accomplish that.

I do- "it ain't braggin' if it's true..."

If I recall...the hijackers used box cutters not guns to overtake the crew. Perhaps a 2 day waiting period on box cutters is in order? Or even a background check station at all hardware stores?

"It makes no sense to deny these records to the FBI in its ongoing investigation of the atrocities of September 11th," Sen. Edward Kennedy of Massachusetts said in a statement.

Oooppss...ANOTHER Senator who hasn't read the Constitution.....

Sen.....it's called the 2nd Amendment.

The HEADLINES SHOULD READ:

Schummer and Kennedy Bid to keep secret records on the working people of America.

How many teachers, firemen, policemen, and other union employees own firearms? Anybody got stats?

I swear you work that angle against the anti-gun nuts in the senate and they'll shut up.

"blaming guns for crime is like blaming spoons for Rosie O'Donnel being fat."

This is a ploy to damage the 2nd Amendment. The Al Quaeda terrorist handbook explicitly tells the terrorist sleeper *NOT* to use firearms. What what good would it be to search gun records? These clowns in D.C. know this but they just can't forget their old agendas.
