BUSH SENDS HANUKKA GREETINGS
JERUSALEM (December 9) - US President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush yesterday extended greetings to the Jewish people on the occasion of Hanukka.
"Hanukka celebrates the liberation of the ancient kingdom of Israel from foreign occupation.
"It teaches us that freedom must sometimes be fought for - a message that continues to resonate today," Bush said.
Hanukka is celebrated beginning tonight.
"Laura and I send our warmest greetings to all those celebrating Hanukka, the festival of lights," Bush said in comments released by the White House.
"The celebration of Hanukka is inspired by the story of the miracle of the lamp: how a ration of oil sufficient only for one day burned for eight.
"It is a holiday of hope that encourages trust in God's providence and God's purposes, even when we are threatened by darkness and destruction.
"Hanukka commemorates the reconsecration of the ancient temple in Jerusalem by the Maccabees and their followers, after it had been desecrated.
"Hanukka celebrates the liberation of the ancient kingdom of Israel from foreign occupation. It teaches us that freedom must sometimes be fought for - a message that continues to resonate today.
"We join all people of Jewish faith in thanking God who has 'sustained us and enabled us to reach this season.'
"May the candles of Hanukka light our memories of those lost on September 11.
"And may this be a season of joy for us all."
Have a Happy High-tech Hannuka as we celebrate the victory over those who would send us back to the 7th century.
Thanks, Dennis, and Happy Hanukah to you all. Here's an interesting little paragraph someone sent us about Hanukah from a Messianic perspective:
"WWYD?What Would Yashua Do? He would celebrate the feast of Hanukah which is the antithesis of the pagan celebration of Christmas. In 168 BC Antiochus Epiphanies celebrated the re-birth of the sun god, by taking over the Jerusalem Temple Mount and erecting a statue of Zeus - on Zeus' birthday; December 25th. Three years later on Kislev 25, the Jews broke down the statue of Zeus, and began the 8 day celebration of the Feast of Hanukah - which means "dedication". That is still the Feast in which we celebrate our personal deliverance from Pagan Sun God worship and the re-dedication of our lives to serve the true God. That is the Feast that our Messiah celebrated -
Do What Yashua Did! " . . . Michael Rood, 6001.com

HAPPY HANUKKA!! To all Jews and righteous Christians.
God's ordinances stand in honor to Him!
What is the correct form, in case I wish to wish somebody a happy one?
There is no "correct" English spelling for Chanukah/Hanukkah, they are all phonetic approximations of Hebrew.
