Violence: A firearm control group compared the year 2000 to 1999. Police blame gangs.

The number of firearm deaths in Los Angeles County rose nearly 9% in 2000 over the previous year, fueled by sharp increases in homicides among men and women of all age groups, according to a survey by a gun control group.

The contents of the article suggest the logic that California's draconian gun control laws are failing. However, the article (not surprisingly, considering the source) does not make that point anywhere that I could find.

Also, it is not clear that the article was reposted on the Brady Campaign web site with permission from the L.A. Times; will the L.A. Times now sue the Brady Campaign for infringement of copyrighted material?

LA = Third World. The Left and their useful helpers within the GOP will turn LA into a real life Bladerunner city.

Police blame gangs.

How come it's not deer hunters. Aren't they a violent group? Or ex-military wackos.

the article...does not make that point anywhere that I could find.

Of course not. They are going to use it as a call for even more stringent laws.

Hey! I just had a great idea.

Let's make it illegal to kill someone!

That'll make 'em think twice before committing murder!

Gun Control HAS NEVER been about stopping crime. It has ALWAYS BEEN about disarming the citizens of America.

But but but....you know it's only because all guns everywhere haven't been banned yet...that would solve everything! Really it would! Just ask Boxer or Feinstein or Kennedy or Brady or Schumer. They know everything, listen to them!

Is it possible to see a break down of these deaths?

Age, Ethnicity, Circumstances, etc....?

How many gang bangers killing each other?: Good kill
How many killed in self defense - committing a crime?: Good kill
How many killed by law enforcement?: Good Kill
How many suicides?: Darwin in practice
How many accidentally killed self?: Darwin in practice

Until we know the truth of the circumstances of these deaths -- we can't know if a 9% increase is a bad thing or a good thing... Correct?
Am I being too insensitive?

I guess registering ammo in LA county isn't working. Maybe they need to engrave SS#'s on each bullet.

You are being too insensitive in my book. Just asking for the TRUTH is what you are doing.

"All truth goes through three stages.
First it is ridiculed.
Then it is violently opposed.
Finally, it is accepted as self-evident."
(Schopenhauer)

A few old man's thoughts on "Sensitive vs Insensitive" in relation to the "Political Correctness" or "Thought Police" of the Left...

You will learn, that the older you get - the less you care about what other people think about you or your opinions - and the less you will care about those that disagree with you..

Age - brings the realization that you love and care for your FAMILY and FRIENDS, above all others - and despise anyone or anything that threatens them and them alone..

I was teasing you with "You are being too insensitive in my book." I've been that way just about all my life. I'm 54 now.
