Hitler was not a right winger. Did you know that?

Take the test and see where you come out....

I'd say the analysis was about right: Libertarian in nature with right wing leanings without being far right or an anarchist.

Economic Left/Right: 4.38
Authoritarian/Libertarian: -4.15

Finally, the authors of the test are morally obtuse if they think Thatcher was closer to Hitler than to Friedman

They mis-characterize Milton as well. Friedman gave numerous examples of how government is the worst choice for whatever your trying to do. The evils of big government are not visible as for many programs it's all we've got. No competition.

The authors fall into this trap. Assuming government provides the only solution for prgressive, social good. [they don't come right out and say it - but it's there].

I will never do that again! LOL

Some things were not absolute, which made them hard to answer! I was far too libetarian for my own comfort! :)

A few of the questions are pretty loaded. I tested almost dead center and I KNOW I am more opinionated than that!

This test must have a left wing Socialist bias built into it. I'm more right of center and more libertarian than I scored. LOL Convincing hard core lefty types they are lefties is the only thing this test will do.

Economic Left/Right -0.63
Authoritarian/Libertarian -0.82

I don't like the questions. Some are too ambiguous and non-discriminating.

I grabbed the following from a libetarian web site

....................................................
....................................................

PoliticalCompass.com...

...is a complete and utter load of bollocks. It claims to have a method of portraying a person's political position outside the narrow confines of 'left' and 'right'. Nice idea. It asks a series of questions to which you reply that you "strongly disagree", "disagree", "agree" or "strongly agree".

However just take the first question:

If globalisation is inevitable, it should primarily serve humanity rather than the interests of trans-national corporations?

Sorry but my answer is both as that is a totally false dichotomy.

Or how about:

Controlling inflation is more important than controlling unemployment.

Again, a false dichotomy, so my answer is neither as unimpeded markets do both within the business cycle. The question also presupposes that either can be meaningfully 'controlled'.

PoliticalCompass.com is just another group of flat-earth socialists using sloppy methodology to say nothing worthwhile about anything in particular. The questions are just a series of propositions based on a resolutely statist meta-contextual view of political dynamics. PoliticalCompass.com is not just irrelevant to libertarians, it is just plain irrelevant. I have no idea why worthy blogs like Andrew Sullivan and Daimnation give them the time of day. I guess they were slumming.

Tony Benn, who is an apologist for collectivist mass murderer Mao Tsetung, is more 'libertarian' that Michael Portillo? These buffons do not know what 'libertarian' means. Also anarcho-syndicalism is not a form of libertarianism, it is a form of incoherent violence based communism. PoliticalCompass.com is a complete waste of pixels.

I agree with you. Meaningless "test".

I like how they made Thatcher out to be practically a Nazi on their plot... Thatcher is nowhere near Nazism. But hey, what do facts matter...

I think most of us took the test in humor and for entertainment purposes only. I have taken serious political tests and have know what I believe in the political spectrum. While this test was close, I know that many of the questions were loaded to say the least, and downright illogical to say the most.
