Very interesting. I got Econ 1.25, Authoritarian -2.31.

But I had problems with most of the questions. Some of them are phrased so awkwardly that I found them to have almost no meaning, and so was forced to put "Disagree" when I would rather have said "no opinion" or similar.

Example: "The enemy of my enemy is my friend." What the hell does this mean? In some situations (like international relations) I agree that it's a valid principle to adhere to - but only temporarily, and most especially during wartime. However, the test doesn't allow for such subtleties. (And don't even get me started on "An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth" - in which situation? What is this referring to?)

There were many other questions to which I knew I was giving the "left-wing" answer even though I didn't want to, because the questions were statements of general principle rather than of government action. For example: "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need is a fundamentally good idea." I agree with this statement, on its own (i.e. it would be pleasant if human nature and reality were such that this state of things were a realistic expectation). But that doesn't mean I would ever want government to act on it, and force people to give "according to their abilities" etc. Another example: "All theatres and museums that can't survive on a commercial basis deserve to perish." I disagreed with this, which presumably aligns me with the NEA crowd etc. However, I didn't mean it the way they do. Here would be my full answer: A museum/theater that doesn't survive on a "commercial basis" doesn't "deserve to perish", no: instead, what should happen is that the wealthy patrons who would like to see that museum/theater survive should pony up their own damn money (in donations) instead of forcing taxpayers to subsidize their opera habit.

In other words, my true views on the subject are even farther to the right than the question, as phrased, can conceive of. Yet my true views are masked, and I end up giving an answer that (presumably) slides me over to the left on the axis.

From this, and the fact that the majority of questions seemed to put me in the same predicament, I can only conclude that the test is inaccurate.

Keep in mind that I only answered about 55% of the questions. The other 45% were non starters. That is, they forced the person to take a position on issues that deal with problems created by parasitical elites. IOW, it amounts to the same as compromising ones principles to vote for the lesser of two "evils". The only way to retain honest principle is to not support either "evil". Thus the reason for not answering nearly half the questions.

From the final page of the junk compass test: In a moment we'll show you where you belong on the political compass.

This is disgusting. Telling people where they belong. It reminds me so much of the lamestream media. IE, "When we want your opinion we'll give it to you."

No wonder they say "this is where you belong". I've always been as far away from being an authoritarian as I can. Stalin? Hitler? JUNK!

Friedman and Gandhi I would say are close to accurate.

While this test is better than "The world Shortest political quiz", it shares many oif the same problems and biases. It is tilted libertarian and Objectivist, tradiotions foreign to either American Conservatism or tradiional American liberalism (Jeffersonianism)
The questions and answers are imprecise. I could easily write a 2000 word answer for most questions. There is no "maybe" option.

Finally, the authors of the test are morally obtuse if they think Thatcher was closer to Hitler than to Friedman. Only a political ignoramus would confuse Burkeanism with Nazism.

It IS crap, of course. They ask, for instance, whether it's ok for parents to occasionally spank kids to teach them right from wrong, a question obviously meant to measure on the libertarian/authoritarian scale. The real question should be is it ok for the government to spank my kids. A test meant to measure political opinions should operate in the political arena only.
