We need the stewardship of 5,000 Free Republic members to insure the continuation of the Free Republic Life Form!
Jim Robinson said in yesterday's post: "My projections are that our regular monthly expenses for next year will be running in the neighborhood of $22,000 per month, or approximately $264,000 total for the year. This means we will need to raise approximately $66,000 per quarter."
If 5,000 Free Republic members who believe in paying their own way and that no free lunch ever exists, pledge $5/month. Jim's goals and needs will be quickly surpassed!
5,000 good stewards of Free Republic pledging $5/month will total $75,000 per quarter. That would allow Jim/John a little breathing room!
Many of us donate more per month than that. So please don't reduce your donation. We just need 5,000 regular pledgers to make things easier for Jim.
Are there 5,000 good Stewards out there who can afford $5/month to keep alive the Free Republic Life Form?
One way to afford this is to cancel your subscription to your left wing fish wrap or bird cage liner. Donate half of that monthly cost to your favorite charity and the rest to Free Republic. If you do this, you remove your money from the enemies of America and invest it with the friends of America, Free Republic! That would be a double winner for America!

Sam you are right on target here. The Aerials (sp) would be upset with this. To them I repeat Jim Robinson's remark, "Put a sock in it or move along!"
If we had 5,000 Freepers who care and had that symbol, maybe the minature head of an Eagle. Jim and John could probably retire the quarterly drives. It would as you note, show those who are serious about Free Republic. I doubt if too many disruptors would ever donate!
I believe you can donate any amount you want. Just click "other" on the donation page and type it in. When I went from $10 to $20 a month about a year ago, I toyed with the idea of making it $17.76 a month. Then I figured lets just make it an even $20. Well I kind of wish I had because well, that would have been cool!

You are starting to scare me as you continue to read my mind on this issue!
We both know that a strong and financially secure Free Republic is the worst nightmare of the left wingers and day time terror! This is why we see their disruptors trying to weaken and destroy FR like the old CNS and other sites they have destroyed! They disrupt, lie, insult, crash the systems with bs and drive away the conservatives. Some are blatant! Some pretend to be conservatives. Their goals are the same like the seminar callers to Rush and other conservative talk shows. Their goals are to disrupt and destroy any conservative site like Free Republic!
This is why I like your idea of a single symbol that would denote that the Freeper is a monthly donator of at least $5/month. As you noted in a previous message, that symbol would show that they care enough to donate monthly! I doubt that very many disruptors would pay to disrupt! If they did, at least Jim and John would have $5 a month for putting up with them!
Your last sentence is worth repeating as it must send chills up the spines of the disruptors, a bad chill: "We'll be doing our own goddamned cable news channel before long. FNN - Freeper News Network. Now doesn't that send shivers up your spine! Yeah, except our shivers would be the good ones!

Amen. Your thread reminded me of the scene in It's a Wonderful Life when Mary asks, and the neighbors happily come to George's aid, payback for the good will he's shown his community. We may get lazy occasionally, but if Jim R. and FR were ever truly in trouble I have no doubt that Freepers will happily come to his aid. That's a groups of 6 lights so paste the address as many times in a row as you want. With our winter fly fishing for steelhead and big winter trout, the flies are under the water. So we are watching the indicators or "feeling the line"!
My goal besides raising cash for Free Republic and getting more volunteers is to avoid the situation of Free Republic being in financial trouble. Good stewardship tries to avoid that situation.
So if we got 5,000 good Freepers to donate every month, we can help Jim and John to avoid that situation!
