5,000 Freepers who care are needed now!
Donate to Free Republic ^ | 30 November 2001 | Grampa Dave

We need the stewardship of 5,000 Free Republic members to insure the continuation of the Free Republic Life Form!

Jim Robinson said in yesterday's post: "My projections are that our regular monthly expenses for next year will be running in the neighborhood of $22,000 per month, or approximately $264,000 total for the year. This means we will need to raise approximately $66,000 per quarter."

If 5,000 Free Republic members who believe in paying their own way and that no free lunch ever exists, pledge $5/month. Jim's goals and needs will be quickly surpassed!

5,000 good stewards of Free Republic pledging $5/month will total $75,000 per quarter. That would allow Jim/John a little breathing room!

Many of us donate more per month than that. So please don't reduce your donation. We just need 5,000 regular pledgers to make things easier for Jim.

Are there 5,000 good Stewards out there who can afford $5/month to keep alive the Free Republic Life Form?

One way to afford this is to cancel your subscription to your left wing fish wrap or bird cage liner. Donate half of that monthly cost to your favorite charity and the rest to Free Republic. If you do this, you remove your money from the enemies of America and invest it with the friends of America, Free Republic! That would be a double winner for America!

Become one of the 5,000 Freepers who believe that there is no Free Republic lunch and that only parasites want something for free! Sign up for $5/month on a monthly auto payment plan!

I am ashamed to say that today is the first time I have donated, but donate I did. I hope my $40 helps.

5 nickels make a quarter. Math not your strong suit, eh? :) (Or you were just being 'ironical.')

And another thank you for my refund. Monthly donations make it easy to support FR.

HI, there - yes I am in for $5/mo - is this part of Badjoe's fundraiser? If so, can I wait to add this to my commitment for then?

thanks for the ping PhiKapMom (hope Stoops gets the Sooners back on track...
and tip of the hat to the OSU Cowboys, for sure)

I'm in for at least the $5/month for the "5K Club" (the five thousand needed for the program).
If any more loose change is discovered when cleaning the house, it'll be on the way too.

Maybe everyone who responds to this thread should include a little
post-it note to Jim saying "I'm signing up for the '5K Club', Signed (Fill in your screen-name).

And then Jim could (as a gentle loving nudge) post the folks who have thus responded,
so we'll know who put their money where their mouth is.

OK, maybe I'm being bad for trying to motivate people to avoid the "lowered self-esteem"
they may encounter if their name is not on the list!
Or, maybe he could include a "5K Member for 2002" on our profile page to remind us we
signed up for this year (and remind us to get ready for 2003)

Laz - Over the years that you've been on FR, have you noticed how many comments to you start out "Uh- Laz----"?

Thanks for your bi weekly contributions. That brings the money into Free Republic even faster than a monthly donation!

I want to thank all Marines for what you have done and for watching over we Navy guys!

Hey Laz, how about one of your cultural math lessons on bi weekly donations?

I like the idea of a symbol to recognize monthly givers, but understand your concerns. Couldn't the moderators deal with rude, obnoxious freepers who are donors the same way as they currently do with somebody who's being rude and obnoxious (and enjoying a free lunch)? If the symbol idea is a 'no go' - how about allowing monthly donors special privileges, such as posting vanities or having a username@freerepublic.com email address or putting a "Monthly Donor Since (date)" on their profile?

I tend to agree with John; we already have enough of that date of join stuff now -- and I admit I'm one that looks to see.

One thing I would like to bring up at this time is

for those of us who can, give more, so that those who cannot will still be here.

Those who can afford to give more, do it!

Freepers take care of their OWN -- without help from the government!!!

And Grandpa, thanks for all you're doing today!
