5,000 Freepers who care are needed now!
Donate to Free Republic ^ | 30 November 2001 | Grampa Dave

We need the stewardship of 5,000 Free Republic members to insure the continuation of the Free Republic Life Form!

Jim Robinson said in yesterday's post: "My projections are that our regular monthly expenses for next year will be running in the neighborhood of $22,000 per month, or approximately $264,000 total for the year. This means we will need to raise approximately $66,000 per quarter."

If 5,000 Free Republic members who believe in paying their own way and that no free lunch ever exists, pledge $5/month. Jim's goals and needs will be quickly surpassed!

5,000 good stewards of Free Republic pledging $5/month will total $75,000 per quarter. That would allow Jim/John a little breathing room!

Many of us donate more per month than that. So please don't reduce your donation. We just need 5,000 regular pledgers to make things easier for Jim.

Are there 5,000 good Stewards out there who can afford $5/month to keep alive the Free Republic Life Form?

One way to afford this is to cancel your subscription to your left wing fish wrap or bird cage liner. Donate half of that monthly cost to your favorite charity and the rest to Free Republic. If you do this, you remove your money from the enemies of America and invest it with the friends of America, Free Republic! That would be a double winner for America!

Become one of the 5,000 Freepers who believe that there is no Free Republic lunch and that only parasites want something for free! Sign up for $5/month on a monthly auto payment plan!

That looks good to start, but this is July. Are there no 'actuals' available? Not down to the line item detail level, but even my small biz can generate a report down to "shipping 987.53" .

Regardles, I can't figure out how $60,000 minus $9,000 equals $54,000. Or even looking at the old published budget of $58,400 minus $9,000 equals $54,000. Now, I'm a public/govt school grad, but still... ;)

I don't want to look like I'm picking at you Rotti!!

Anyone who can afford to eat can afford to donate at least $20 every 3 months to FR.

I did. :-)

(Actually I should eat less, and with the difference saved, I could donate more!)

Hey, they're just pallparks. Sometimes the expenses are up, sometimes they're down. By the way, it was not a matter of $60,000 - $9,000. I've recalculated our requirements using a zero base budgeting method and estimated the approximate amounts that will be needed per month for the remainder of the year. Right now, thankfully, we're running a surplus. That may not always be true in the future. Thank you for your concerns.

To continue, if someone donates $20 every Freepathon, that's only about (gets out paper and pen) about $6.65 a month. I don't think that'll break the bank!

I'm embarrassed not to donate. After all, JimRob hasn't banned me, out of his generous good nature!

During one of the Freepathons someone posted the calories not eaten by not eating fast food once a week and sending the savings to Free Republic, weekly or monthly. It was amazing. They said it would be easy to save $5/week that way or $20 plus per month to send to Free Republic.

Budgeting a monthly auto payment to Free Republic is easy and represents good stewardship.

Then when we stop fast food or other things that might hurt us to make that auto payment, we are helping ourselves.

By the way, while I'm at it, I will remind you that we are not a government entity, nor are we a 501C nonprofit, nor a nontaxable entity of any kind, nor a public company. We are not required to and we do not wish to publish a detailed list of expenditures or financial statements for several reasons. One of which is we choose not to have every financial decision and expenditure we make scrutinized and second guessed by thousands of well-meaning critics and or our political foes, much less by those who are doing their level best to get us shutdown.

We do the very best we can with what we have. Most of our participants and donors are fine with this. If not, they wouldn't donate. In fact, if they are unhappy with the way we manage FR, we ask that they don't donate at all. And if they're really, really all that unhappy, then we suggest they should just change the channel. There are plenty of websites out there on the Internet. FR just happens to be the very best conservative site available. LOL.

Thank you FReepers for making that so!

We estimate a ball park budget of what aour costs and expenditures are expected to be so we will all know what we need to raise each quarter and in general terms where the funds are expected to be used. If there are cases where we have a major change in expenditures or requirements, ie, such as the final payment just made of our $3,000/month legal bill for the eschoir lawsuit, we will recalculate and republish our estimated ballpark budgets.

And we always set the target for each fundraiser somewhat higher than our budget estimates because sometimes all of the pledges made don't come in and or we sometimes have bill-backs and or refunds. Also, we feel it's always best (when possible) to have a cash buffer on hand in case some unusual expense or legal fee or other unforeseen large payment has to be made.

Thanks again for your concerns.

Years ago I decided to track every penny spent, and I was absolutely amazed how much went to snack food while in town. Starting bring food with us, much cheaper and more healthy anyway.

What would we do without FR?

I even dreamed I was freeping last night, not for the first time. Didn't have any breaking news, though.

"I had stopped before since I was starting a new biz, then became unemployed. While I've just started working again, I need to ensure that any penny I donate is used wisely (like Red Cross and 9/11, never again)."

And, by the way, please do not donate to FR if your money can be better used elsewhere and or if you really feel that FR is using its funds unwisely.

Thanks,

Jim

Where I come from.....there are five nickels in a quarter.

What the heck does it matter, either you like this place or not. Contribute or not. No one is forcing you by gunpoint. Give or don't it's up to you.
