In his mind's eye, the image of what Jose Antonio Serra saw in a burned patch of jungle on the Amazon's edge is still chillingly fresh -- not because the murder happened just seven weeks ago, but because there are some things a father can never forget.
What he found, a short walk from his family's mud hut, were the remains of his 13-year-old son: a figure on its knees, head buried in the dirt, genitals and middle figure removed with cuts that looked almost surgical. In shock, Serra noticed an odd detail: The mutilated body looked diminished, even shrunken. Then he noticed the gash in the boy's jugular vein, and realized that his blood had been drained.

To get real potions and spells would be a quick click on the net. You may try if you want to. I am not that foolish anymore. Do you just want to come out and laugh at the wiccans and satanist and tell them otherwise, because they take their faith seriously. And if so maybe you should debate them.
Just mimics magik to closely in some parts and glamorizes it.

Would you like some scripture that does talk about magik and other occult pratices? Probably not because if you know what they say you will not be able to use a post like that one again.

I think that it is not hysteria. People are trying to sound an alarm. There have been in the past few years more and more occult shows, occult symbols all around us. Was it Alice Bailey that said through her demonic entity D.K. that we have to desensitize slowly down to the lowest level of society (meaning children) before her god satan could come. I know that was not the exact quote but it is close enough.
What are your thoughts on the possession that occurs in Harry Potter by the evil Lord V? He is an evil spirit that posses an eleven year old child. And there are other instances of his possession also as you have pointed out. The things that are used in the books are actually used in wiccan practices. The courses the children are taking are actual things used. Were do these children get their power from in these books?
MCD
Read the bible. I don't recall any middle ground. You will either take the mark in your right hand or in your forehead or you will die for your faith. Gee doesn't Harry have a mark in the middle of his forehead? And isn't it a lightning bolt in the middle of Harry's forehead?
Jesus said "I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven". Luke 10:18

A question mark means that one is asking a question, it looks like this ? Therefore when one uses a question mark it is not a declaritive sentence. And therefore can not be a judgement!(Exclamatory Sentence!)
Couldn't= Could not meaning something one can not do. Wouldn't=Would not something one may not wish to do, but is quite capable of doing so.
I would not answer your question and allow you to try to compare a Harry Potter a book about a wizard with the bible a book that is devinley inspired and speaks of the days that we are in.
Were you shocked and surprised by September 11. I wasn't. Sadend yes! Why do you think my son would ask me in August "Mom how soon before the war is going to begin". It is all in the book. Some of us know the truth and that is why we are mocked, as it also said that in the book.

Is it only because the moderator has taken it off that now you say the tone was nasty and offensive? Earlier you sided very heavy with Mr. Vega never questioning his post. By the way it was all untrue. It was a preverted account. Do you really believe his statements were true?
MCD
Not according to "real" wiccans. And the "power" is make believe, just like the fairy godmother in Cinderella.
Quote to me where I sided with Mr. Vega. Read all of my posts on this thread - I just did again. I never took his side, but challenged you on the fact that you set yourself up as his judge.
In essence he said that the God of Israel required blood sacrifice, then sent his son to fulfill that. Now that's a big 'ol paraphrase and I won't get into an argument over how he said it, since it's not here anymore.
But no, it was not "all" untrue. It was, as you say a "perverted" account - but a perversion of the truth.
But the issue was never with what Mr. Vega said. It was with your response in calling him the son of Satan. It was out of line. It was viscious. It was malicious. It was ugly. And it was inappropriate in this forum shared by people of all faith.
Yet you keep avoiding that and accuse me of siding with Mr. Vega and accuse me of bashing Christians. In other words, you're perverting the truth - and you condemned Mr. Vega to hell for doing just that.
The objection to self-mutilation is based on a natural law argument. It is intrinsically evil to harm the proper functioning of your body.
Now, it's pretty easy to see that amputating one of your fingers is disordered and impairs the proper functioning of your body. What about smoking three packs of cigarettes a day? That seems to impair the proper functioning of your body too. What about 1 pack? Once cigarette? There is something of a continuum here.
The same principle applies to tattoos and ear-piercing. Inasmuch as they increase your risk of developing an infection, they can be considered an evil, but they don't seem to impair proper body function. They're a marginal and borderline case.
The argument isn't based on Levitical law.
In the sense that we have free will, we are free to "go around" or disobey God's commands.
"Thou shalt have no other gods before me." Doesn't say squadoo about occult practices, it says "other gods."
Is this Bill Clinton?
This occurs in a brief 3 or 4 page chapter. One of the bad guys/wizards is mixing up a potion in a cauldron in order to bring about some effect. I forget what. Anyway, he pulls out a knife, leans over the kettle, steels his will, and lops off his arm which falls into the potion. "Plop." That "completes" the spell. Maybe someone else here can fill in the details.
In another book, a mysterious hooded character leans over a dead unicorn and drinks its blood.
I became concerned when I heard that teachers were reading books dealing with witchcraft to their students. Then I learned that three of these children's books dealing with witchcraft occupied the top three spots on the NY Times best-seller list for several months.
If anything else, these books are a huge cultural phenomenone, and should be the subject of intense scrutiny by Christians.
