Pro-American/Freedom and Anti-Peacenik FReep in Fresno, CA 11/16/01

A group of FReepers and concerned citizens met tonight to show their support for America, the troops, and freedom and to share their anti-peacenik sentiment in Fresno, California. All in all, there were about 15-20 of us and probably about the same number of peaceniks across the street. We were greeted enthusiastically by the passers-by as usual. The peaceniks seem to be losing interest because their numbers are dwindling and they left earlier than they usually do, before 6:30. Since those driving by were glad to see us there, we stayed until almost 8 o'clock.

We added a few new chants tonight, Honk for the USA (to the tune of Born in the USA) and United we stand, Divided we fall. FReepers in attendance tonight included:

It's pretty late tonight, so I will post the pictures that I took tomorrow morning.

I want to make special mention of the fact that JustAmy arrived early tonight, and when I showed up she was holding her signs and staking claim to our corner by herself while there were already about a dozen peaceniks across the street. Thanks JustAmy for your dedication to our cause and our weekly FReep! What would we do without you?

I drove by the corner a little early and there stood JustAmy on our corner, all by herself, holding her message. On the other corner the opposition forces had already started gathering. JustAMy, heavily outnumbered, was standing tall, holding our fort (corner) until reinforcements could arrive. WAY TO WORK JustAmy.

IT WOULD REALLY BE NICE TO KEEP THE OPPOSITION ON THE RUN. THE MORE WE HAVE ON OUR CORNER, THE MORE DISCOURAGED THE OPPOSITION SEEMS TO BE.

It is easy to stand on our corner alone until the others arrive because motorists start honking before I can even get my car unloaded. I think they look for us every Friday!
A lady who stopped with her children told me she would honk next Friday at our corner even if we take the day off for the 4-day week-end. ;^)

All that footage of cheering, happy Afghan people shown on the news must have put a damper on the anti-American crowd. (I don't make the mistake of calling them anti-war, because they aren't.)
