"President Bush's job approval rating shows no sign of decline. The latest Gallup poll, conducted Nov. 8-11, measures the presidents approval rating at 87%. Bushs job approval has remained at 86% or higher in seven polls conducted over two months. In the history of Gallup polling, no prior presidents have been able to sustain their high approval levels, with no apparent decline, this long." Full Story
Is that why he was pulling for ANWR drilling well before it was a considerable option, due to public pressure?
It's just that you misunderstood me. My point was that Bush likely was NOT behind the assassination attempt (whether or not he knew more about it than others simply given his intel connections. Surely he has some worthwhile contacts.)
I think in terms of the mob (which, along with Drug Money, has been the primary means of touching and controlling our pols until terrorism finally erupted domestically). I think it far more plausible that Neil's supping with the Hinkley's sent a message to the Bush crowd rather than implicates them.
But, of course, that's all conjecture on my part in comport with my thoughts on their being more Useful Idiots as a rule.
As for their being controlled by shadowy forces ...
They ARE the shadowy forces in many respects, Virago. Face it. I think George H. Bush has been very upfront in this regard ... talking of how folks probably couldn't countenance it if we knew precisely what went on behind the scenes.
Were these men of absolute integrity, it might be one thing that they mix it up -- practicing the alchemy of pragmatism -- where we can't see them. But they aren't. They're shrewd. And I'll just tell you right now that the first time I read George H. on the subject of population control in the late 60's and when listened to George W. actually split the baby in his damn near Scriptural, Solomon-like decision, my stomach churned, my heart ached and my eyes filled with tears.
We haven't a chance, NYCViagro, of these men EVER understanding or protecting some semblance of self-evident truth or civil rights when they are so far gone they can't understand the enduring truth inherent in the statement: "ALL MEN are CREATED equal".
So ... in my book, they're idiots at best, self-serving, hubris-ridden businessmen who've no particular concern for anyone but their own at worst.
I don't hate them (or anyone, for that matter) and I certainly don't think the perennial front-runner and the GOP dynasty would dirty their hands by confecting some poorly executed assassination attempt compounded with some strange out-of-the-blue contact between the Hinkley and Bush families.
Does that help?
NEW Gallup: Bush's Soaring Approval More Sustained Than Any In Presidential HistoryBig BUMP for President Bush! Thanks for the post, good FReeper! ! ;-)
Green looks good on you.
From day one, most of us out here not flying over the cuckoo's nest, have been quite aware of the realities of this campaign against terrorist organizations. I didn't need to be told by the President that we had started down a long and winding road, I knew...most people of any intelligence knew.
You approach this as if it's all a secret, as if the President hasn't been crystal clear since day one, that he hasn't warned us this war will take a long time, and that other enemies need to be rooted out and destroyed, Hussein, Arafat, and maybe, with luck, Castro will fall.
Seek help, you are in dire need of it.

Okay, I can agree with this. As for the infamous Bush quote about "talking of how folks probably couldn't countenance it if we knew precisely what went on behind the scenes," I don't consider Sarah McClendon a credible source (and she's the only one I've ever seen talk about that quote.) But even if he did say it, which I doubt, that could mean a variety of things. Heck, there's the old adage about how you should never watch sausage or laws being made.
I believe that the Bush Presidency should be put under the microscope when passing new laws that curtail rights, but if you think I will remain silent while you concoct some bizarre theory that The Faceless Ones tried to off Reagan, I will make a big deal out of it.
If and when I do ... I'll let you know.
This comment of yours has really stuck in my head, court records being public and all. It's an outstanding post! In fact, why don't we just give the enemy all the information they need to destroy us? We could set up a massive international information system that any whacko anywhere in the world can tap into to learn all kinds of specifications and techniques for massive destruction they otherwise wouldn't know.
Oh. It's been done already. Your tax dollars at work, BTW.
And another thing I'm thankful for is that I don't understand the relevancy of a great deal of what she posts or WHY she posts, other than to smear the Bushes and then regal us all with legions of posts explaing how we ALL manage to misunderstand what she's trying to say........AGAIN. Oh, and that she really ISN'T a Bush hater.
As I stated 250 replies ago, she has all that stuff on her hard drive and spends the whole day just looking for threads to paste it on.
