NEW Gallup: Bush's Soaring Approval More Sustained Than Any In Presidential History
GALLUP ^

Posted on 11/16/2001 1:11:37 PM PST by hawaiian

"President Bush's job approval rating shows no sign of decline. The latest Gallup poll, conducted Nov. 8-11, measures the president’s approval rating at 87%. Bush’s job approval has remained at 86% or higher in seven polls conducted over two months. In the history of Gallup polling, no prior presidents have been able to sustain their high approval levels, with no apparent decline, this long." Full Story

AGain, in case you haven't noticed, American citizens are exempt from being able to be tried by this tribunal.

You have taken away any fuel the Democrats could have employed in questioning Bush's legitimacy during the 2004 election.

Hardly.

The Dems don't care what the truth is and never let the facts get in their way. I guarantee you that they will use this issue in the 2004 election and 90% of the voting Democrats will buy it.

Well maybe 80%.

In case you have not noticed, American citizens are specifically exempt from being able to be tried in this tribunal. It is not a Bush conspiracy to take away your rights.

This poster has never yet permitted a fact to get in the way of her tinfoil.

My post was sarcastic in tone. This will not curtail the rights of Americans in any way. There's much to be wary about with the FedGov's power grabs at this time, but this ain't one of them.

Were tribunals called into existence and subsequently rescinded by Executive Order during WWII as well? Wouldn't mind drawing as many reassuring parallels as possible, to tell you the truth.

Ya know, researching the answer to that question is a waste of time. No matter what answer is derived, you'll still say that Bush won't rescind his EO.

Neither one of us is a Bush Cheerleader, but unlike you, I don't believe everything he does is part of a nefarious plan to enslave America.

Hell - I even think Clinton has some saving graces - I'm convinced he loves his daughter, and he doesn't kick his dog. Will that get me banned? =)

I spoke with a conservative national editor tonight about how the War on Terrorism abroad has become the War on the Constitution at home. He gave me the standard response these days about extreme times calling for extreme measures--it was almost word for word what I heard liberal Roger Cossack of CNN saying on a radio interview earlier.

I stated that it will be interesting to see how much of the Patriot Act will survive review by the Supreme Court. He thought about it, and then said alot of it will be thrown out by the the Court.

It's incredible, as an American, to watch as so many of my fellow citizens openly talk of torture and truth serums, sneak and peek, secret trials with secret evidence and other Soviet atrocities as being necessary for the survival of our freedom.

It reminds me of that saying from a few wars ago, "We had to burn the Constitution in order to save it."

Dems strategy is to keep a low profile on Clinton's recession and hope that people forget the exact dates the economy started its decline (Dems have convenient memories). They have already tried to blame Bush, but it didn't sell, so they will come back in lock step, and drown out any dissenting views -- my guess would be five or six months from now, to be included in the 2002 elections.

Yes....held at Nurenburg, Germany....tribunals for war crimes & atrocities....certainly the attacks of 9-11 would qualify!
