My Fellow Americans, LET'S ROLL![President Bush, November 8, 2001]
Good Morning!! Do not let them die in vain!!
What a speech!! IMO, the best yet.
But I must draw a contrast - it just screams out to be done.
A certain junior Senator from New York goes before a crowd of police and firefighters two weeks ago in New York's Madison Square Garden to give an introductory speech, and she is booed from the stage.
A certain President of the United States, exercising ultimate gravitasTM, goes before a crowd of police and firefighters in Atlanta and receives a hero's welcome.
I think the junior Senator from New York has to be wound so tight this morning that her broomstick broke.
On the war front:
In the South Asia Theater of Operations (SATO), NA ground forces are reportedly moving on Mazir-e-Sharif. No word on whether the city's fall is imminent.
The Stennis CBG is on its way to SATO and will take station in the Arabian Sea.
On the Home Front - the Government has turned to using a Civil War sedition statute to both detain and prosecute suspected terrorists. It's sort of a natural follow on when you announce a jihad against the United States.
For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.
With every speech President Bush makes, it just elevates my respect for the man. His speeches are beginning to rival those of Reagan and that says a lot for me.
Looks like I'll be on travel next week to Tuscon and won't have access to FR. Boy is it going to be a tough week. I'm already feeling the withdrawal pains.
AMERICAS WAR ON TERROR Day 60
Were Rolling Now!! Day 34
The news as reported in The Washington Times:
[Note All links go to The Washington Times website.]
1. President Bush to the American people: LETS ROLL!
[What an incredible speech. The President was absolutely on last night.]
( Bush tells America, 'Let's roll' )
2. We meet tonight after two of the most difficult and most inspiring months in our nation's history. We have endured the shock of watching so many innocent lives ended in acts of unimaginable horror. * * * Americans have responded magnificently with courage and caring. * * *
[Words from The Speech.]
( Excerpts of President Bush's nationally televised address )
3. The commander of US forces in the South Asia Theater of Operations indicated all is going well with the war.
[It seems to be. We just need to be patient.]
( General happy with progress )
4. Pakistan may still recognize the Talibum regime, but that regimes ambassador to Pakistan has been gagged being told he cannot hold press conferences anymore.
[Most excellent!!]
( Pakistan stifles Taliban envoy )
5. AG Ashcroft has undertaken an unprecedented wartime reorganization of the Justice Department, designed to better defend America by pre-empting terrorist attacks in the future.
[Steadily, surely, we are getting our act together. Good job!]
( Pre-empting new strikes 'blueprint' for Justice )
6. President Bush has told Chairman Arafat that there will be no meeting with him as he has not done enough to stop terrorism.
[Good. Support the concept of a Palestinian State, but make it very clear that terrorism, and with it the concomitant threat to Israel, will not be tolerated. Well placed snub.]
( Bush will not meet with Arafat )
7. Egypt has told the United States, through their Ambassador, that they are pleased with the way America is conducting itself in the war.
[Excellent. Now, how about some Egyptian effort in the war?]
( Diplomat says Egypt backs Bush in handling of war )
8. In response to declining ridership since September 11, Washingtons subway system Metro has announced it will likely increase fares to offset an anticipated $20 million budget shortfall.
[A typical response from an outfit receiving heavy government subsidies to operate. Ridership is down, so increase the fares. Like that is going to increase ridership? What will work are two things: (1) DECREASE fares, and provide the security that was promised. On the last note, on September 12, 2001, Metro announced that there would be an increased presence of police on all subway cars. Since that time, I have not seen ONE nope, nada, zero, zilch not one Metro police officer on any train I have taken. Today, for the FIRST time since 9/11, I saw ONE police officer on the platform in Rosslyn a Virginia subway station. Ugh.]
( Metro foresees increase in fares )
We shall not rest until we have cut a swath 60-miles wide through the entire left - taking all that is before us with us as we go. We shall leave nothing to the enemy that may be of value to him. We shall show him that he may count on nothing and will be able to keep nothing, not his spirit, not his soul, not that upon which he shall feed. We shall not cease until the moment we have rent through their entire land and have arrived at the sea, with our glorious victory upon us.

What a great speech last night by our wonderful President. And what a reception (and very well deserved) he received from the Firefighter's, Poilce, and Military (not to mention everyone else) in attendence! But when he closed his speech with the line "My fellow Americans, Let's Roll" I was standing and cheering like everyone who was there was. What a great line, from a great President. That's one for the history books!
Have a safe and happy Veterans day weekend, and if you see a Vet, or a member on active duty, take a moment to say Thank You.
To all Veterans, and active duty, Reserve, and Guard members past and present here on the ATRW, -
THANK YOU!
Much as I tend to complain about my job sometimes, these guys are really good to us especially around the holidays and stuff.
I think maybe they were inspired by the President last night!!!!!!!
Reaganomics - We will miss you too! Will you have time while you're out there to drive up into the Santa Catalina Mtns??
Fox Report talking about celebrity wimps...
"Music Man" was great!!! At the end, after the bows, the entire cast came back out on stage in marching band uniforms, carrying trombones, and they ALL proceeded to play "76 Trombones"!!!!! It was fabulous, and at the very end of the tune, they unfurled a HUGE American flag! The crowd went wild!!! So cool...........
Unfortunately, because of being at the show, I missed the President's speech.:( Is there a transcript available???)
Off for the day...........busy, busy today.......might have time to check in a bit later.......
Fox morning show highlighting the Pres. "Let's Roll" ending.
Yesterday afternoon the TV cable went cablooey, and when it returned about 4 p.m., the internet connecttion went down til about 10, so I missed all the FR fun as the Pres gave his speech.:(
Quick pray request. My 11 yr. son and I are going to drive from V.B., VA to KS. Needing prayers for a safe trip there and back. Hubby has to work and can't make the trip. Leaving the 11th and returning the 23rd. Thanks.
