My Fellow Americans, LET'S ROLL![President Bush, November 8, 2001]
Good Morning!! Do not let them die in vain!!
What a speech!! IMO, the best yet.
But I must draw a contrast - it just screams out to be done.
A certain junior Senator from New York goes before a crowd of police and firefighters two weeks ago in New York's Madison Square Garden to give an introductory speech, and she is booed from the stage.
A certain President of the United States, exercising ultimate gravitasTM, goes before a crowd of police and firefighters in Atlanta and receives a hero's welcome.
I think the junior Senator from New York has to be wound so tight this morning that her broomstick broke.
On the war front:
In the South Asia Theater of Operations (SATO), NA ground forces are reportedly moving on Mazir-e-Sharif. No word on whether the city's fall is imminent.
The Stennis CBG is on its way to SATO and will take station in the Arabian Sea.
On the Home Front - the Government has turned to using a Civil War sedition statute to both detain and prosecute suspected terrorists. It's sort of a natural follow on when you announce a jihad against the United States.
For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.
Now, off to the hairdresser.......getting about 4" of hair hacked off........
Then home for naptime & (blecch) housework; then "Bye Bye Birdie" rehearsal 6:00-9:00.
Tomorrow I will be gone all day at a high school choral festival. Lots of music.:) :) :)......and Christmas music hasn't really begun in earnest yet.....can't wait......:)
Ping me if anything important happens in the world.:)
but of course, that is the catch: Control, thru diet, insulin, and exercise. Easier said, than done.
And of course my son is younger.
Will keep your Mom in prayer, Nita.
I'm going to go way out on a limb here and predict the Skins will not lose this week.
Would like to take a nap, but am still troubled by something I witnessed this a.m., and would like to share it.
Running errands, I stopped at Pannera's for an apple croissant and iced tea - YUM! - but on to my story!:
The place was crowded with not too many open spots or choices, but I found a table opposite a booth, barely registering that a couple of people were in the booth.
Then it only took a few secs for what was going on in the booth to sink in.
A man was fairly loudly chastising whoever was sitting opposite him.
I tried to tune out the details, but it was impossible...deception, failure in school, something about a dreamworld...The words went on and on, and the man repeated himself.
After a few minutes, assuming the subject of the lecture was a teenager - it sounded so dire and harsh - I sneaked a peek, and a young boy of 7 or 8 was cowering in the corner of the booth, looking so sad and alone!!
I think it would be presumptious to draw too many conclusions. Was this a one-time lecture, or part of a pattern? What was the basis of the complaints, and so forth.
BUT I do feel on firm ground writing that it was highly inappropriate to deliver such an angry message in such a public place.
It was shocking and at least a couple of other customers were troubled, too.
Another minute or 2 and I fled, but the boy's expression has haunted me ever since.

Wasn't our President in his stride last evening, and Laura, earlier in the day. Those two are just the greatest duo we've had in the Whitehouse, since the Reagans and other Bushes.
I don't know what to say other than I can understand you being very unsettled after having witnessed this.
She also gives FR a good yuck from time to time.
Talibums admit Northern Alliance has entered the city limits of Mazir-e-Sharif, but claims fighting continues in the city.
MORE THAN ANY OTHER WORLD LEADER!!!
And UOx42 would have been better at the war on terrorism than President Bush?!?
