Fresno Support our Troops/Counter-Protest Peacenik Rally 11/02/01

Tonight's Fresno "Support our Troops Rally" (which was also held to counter-protest the peaceniks that appear like clock work every Friday night) was such fun! There were only about 20 of us tonight altogether, but what we lacked in numbers we made up for in enthusiasm.
No media showed up tonight. I guess it must have been a busy news day otherwise. (Not!)
We chanted some of our past favorites such as "USA", "We support the troops", No justice, no peace", "We don't care what you say, We're going to bomb them anyway", and "All we are saying, Is give bombs a chance". We chanted a few new ones too, like "Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Islam" (sung to the Beach Boy's Barbara Ann tune), and "USA, all the way".
I wish you all could hear the response we get from the people driving by! It's absolutely heart warming!
FReepers attending tonight were:
- Jim Robinson with his wife Sheila and his son Chris
- chadsworth (ladyinred's husband)
- MLO
- gracie1
- goodieD and her daughter
- Clovis_Skeptic and his daughter
- JustAmy
- mtngrl@vrwc
A big thanks to all who attended!

Chadsworth had a great time tonight, trying to get each and every person who drove by to honk to show their support for our troops. Even most of the reluctant ones (how someone can be reluctant to support what we are trying to do is beyond me!) were usually won over. Now that we see what you can do, Chadsworth, you have to join us every Friday! LOL!
It's especially rewarding to get the large trucks that drive by us to honk! We also had a Sheriff who put on his lights for us while he drove by! Whoo Hooo! :)

FReeper SLJP who has lent her talents and support to us Fresno FReepers by writing press releases and sending them to the media (which was instrumental in having both Channels 26 and 30 cover our FReep last week) sent this book, "Once Upon a Christmas", which includes a story that she herself wrote, for us to send to the troops. It was on display tonight so that everyone could see it before it gets mailed off. I am sure it will be a favorite when it's received by our troops! Thanks ever so much SLJP! You are sooooo talented! :)

Thanks for the ping and the pictures. It was almost like being there, but not quite. :-(
Glad to see mlo, Chadsworth and Clovis_Skeptic were there along with the Rally regulars.
Mama_Bear and jkphoto WILL be there next week, for sure.

We got a few more signatures.
We get so much support from the motorists, it amazes me that we don't have several join us.
Tame's mother stopped by for about 5 minutes; she was on her way to an appointment and unaware of our rally. She signed the banner and plans to be back next week.

I had a great time @ my 1st "freep". I was especially proud of my 14 yr old daughter, that not only agreed to go with me, but also told her aunt ladyinred, that she would attend next Friday if she would. The challenge is out!! (freep her)
Chadsworth was inspiring with his cheerleaderesque honk pitch. And, it was funny how there were about 30+ peacenicks on the opposite corner at first, but they dwindled away pretty fast (guess they had a pot party to go to or ?)

Thank you for the kind words on my having fun trying to get the closet war supporters to acknowledge that they do support the war effort. Most of the traffic clearly supported the war effort and I found out that a little coaxing works. There were a few that, among the "thumbs up" signs told me what thier IQ was by saying "HI" ( that didn't translate to hello either).
I am in hopes that we can outnumber the "Anti-" folks with the "suport the effort" folks. LadyinRed is going to fix us a snack plate so we can keep the enthusiam rolling at a speedy pace. Maybe that would help attract some more folks to the corner - you know - home cooked goddies!
By the way, when are you going to cut your Bomb, Bomb, Bomb,Bomb, Bomb, Islam CD? I want a special signature edition.
The bottom line is - we had fun for a great cause---- more people should join us! We cannot let the support fade as time passes by.
To: Clovis_Skeptic
Good for you and your daughter (she's a cutie!)! I'll never forget my first FReep (protesting Herr Klinkton's visit to Chicago in Oct. 1998) - it was so cathartic.

Doncha just love all the "drive-by" support?! Woo hoo!
Great work, all of you, out in Fresno! Your patriotic efforts COUNT! They do make a difference!!!
