[history]
The war over the nation's judiciary is a familiar battleground, but one whose recent skirmishes are failing to generate the usual noise and headlines. Maybe it's because of the unexpected camouflage of the war on terrorism that Senate Democrats are now unleashing a kind of ferocity and vindictiveness which just doesn't seem to count as "politics-as-usual" anymore.

Bush should use the Bully Pulpit.
He needs to ask all Americans to back him with his nominees, so the war on terrorism can get the goverments full attention.
He should ask all Americans to write their Senators and Congressmen to support the war on terrorism, and give Bush the tools to make it successful.
He should also mention the politics being used are interfering with the the number one issue on Americas minds, the protection of their beloved Republic.
So, what's he waiting for?

Another strategy would be to keep the nominateds before the committee while making different EXTREMELY CONSERVATIVE recess appointments for THOSE SAME SEATS!
In other words, you'd do better to approve the nominees than have the recess appointees for very long at all.

Leahy is just another Clinton accomplice. Nothing more.

I like how you think!

From another post -the last sentence applies to you Mr. Leahy..
"When Bubba walked out there were lots of boos and were heard the whole time but Firemen and Cops around me were telling people to stop because he had been the PRESIDENT and deserved respect for that regardless of anyone's feelings. "
To: xzins
Considering that their terms wouldn't expire until the
end of the next session W could just re-appoint them again.
Our founding fathers weren't stupid, but Dims would like for you to think so.

I respect the Office of President regardless of the ideology of it's occupant. But the person holding that office must be deserving of that same respect, not someone who committed treason by selling nuclear secrets, pardons et al. As to defending "Leaky" Leahy, I guess that extends to him as well - both of them are traitors.
