This evening I had dinner at an Indian (Hindu) restaurant in Montclair, New Jersey. During the meal, several people at our table were discussing pictures of the World Trade Center (pre-9/11) that were on display at a framing gallery next door. When we left the restaurant, I decided to check the pictures out for myself. It was a wonderful tribute: an American flag surrounded by four or five balck and white posters and photographs of the twin towers taken from different angles, some during the day, some at night.
Then something surreal happened. As we started to walk toward our car, three Arab men in their early 20s passed us. I am no expert in ethnic identity, but I am absoltely sure the men were Arab and definitely not Indian or hispanic. They were speaking to each other in their native tongue. As they walked past the storefront with the pictures of the WTC, one of the men looked at the pictures and then said something to his friends to draw their attention to the pictures. Then the three of them bursted out laughing and walked away. My blood boiled and I shouted at them. I think my words were, "Hey, you think that's funny, you f*#%ing Arabs?" They just waled along, oblivious to me. It was a sad and chilling experience.
From the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, May/June 1998:
The use of force against Iraq would also carry a high diplomatic price. U.S. threats earlier this year against Iraq touched off intense public anger throughout the Arab world. For the first time since U.S. forces were permanently based there after the Gulf War, Saudi Arabia denied the United States permission to launch strikes from its soil or through its air space. Any policy that threatens to separate the United States from its most important ally in the Persian Gulf is a bad one.

Please don't defend these terrorist-sympathizing MUSLIMS. Call them for what they are! (However, they cannot be arrested for what they did, I will grant you that.)
P.S. Why don't you tell the forum why there are SO MANY CHRISTIAN Arabs in this country. (You know, the part about how they were MISTREATED by MUSLIM ARABS in the old country?)
A knuckle sandwich!
It is a little late, but I did catch your jab. I'll tell you my story...
Ethnically my family's Arabic, but we managed to con/fight the Brits out of some land in what is now called Pakistan. Part of that land is prime hunting land: stocked, with wild boar of the razorback variety, deer, duck, and partridge. (the boar we shoot, we give to Christian villagers because we can't eat pork-- being "filthy Muslims" as you put it)
Yes, we hunt. And we are proud of it. The females in our family hunt, too. When I was 3, my mother got me my first airgun. When I was four, they felt I was mature enough for a 22 Hornet.
But then, you probably don't know what a Hornet is. Most people in this part of the world are opposed to hunting, anyway. I got in trouble in college at SUNY Albany because of it. Personally, I couldn't care less... If it tastes good, I'm still going to shoot it.
Hope not. But, if you like to shoot, come join me and my family. We hunt in Northern New York. So, if you run across a group of Mediterranean looking folks with weapons of Weatherby manufacture, that's us.
And we're very good shots. Wouldn't you prefer sharing some venison steak with us? We're good cooks, too.
ROTFL! Oh god, thank you! I found this so funny that I acutally went and got a glass of milk, just so that it could come out my nose as I laughed!
Ow, ow, ow, my sides... ok, ok, stop laughing, ow, ow...
Ok. ok, that's better. ow...
Deep breath. Ok. I'm sorry, I am not really a mean person. It is just that I have this image of you either teaching high school or college. Wearing a sweater (ow, ow, my sides). Ok. (breath).
Joe, I'm sure you have had much luck using these old verbal tricks with the young ladies over dinner, discussing American imperialism and Kung Pao. But really, most of us here at FR are adults and have seen these old, old, tricks.
Take a label the other will hate.
Redefine it to include some characteristic you think you can pin on the other.
Connect the dots.
Liberalism is the over generalization ... ow, ow, ow, my sides. no more, no more.
Ow, oh. I appologize. I'm sorry. But I can just see the conversation:
"Well my dear. Virginity is the state of over genearalized puritan conservativism. Your not a convervative, right my dear?"
Ow! Oh my sides! Ok, ok, you may win this argument by forfeit if I die laughing. Ow!
Bottom line: The enemy is Arab men, 20-50 years old most likely with a westernized appearance who live in America.
Of course, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, Joe. How would you characterize the profile of the Sept 11th terrorists and any would be sleepers amongst us?
Hmmmmmm
If it don't work out, heck we can both hunt each other. Can't be all bad, either way.
Regards.
And here I am trying to be friendly... Well, then let me make something clear:
No one I know, and no one I am related to did you any harm. If you should do my family harm, how would any "man" with red blood in his veins respond?
I've always felt that all hunters share a kinship, but don't threaten a man's family. That is the stuff of hatred. I'd prefer to avoid hating anyone that lives in the United States, if you catch my drift.
Absolutely....I find that very offensive. But the fact that anyone was laughing has not been proven - other then anecdotal evidence provided by the author of the post. He saw three guys he thought were arabic, say something he didn't understand, laugh, and then went slightly ballistic. I understand his feelings, by the way... I just was stating mine.
