Congresswoman's Letter of Apology to Saudi Prince Prompts Criticism

WASHINGTON (AP) -

A Georgia congresswoman is facing criticism for sending a letter to a Saudi prince apologizing for New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani's refusal to accept the prince's $10 million check for terrorism victims.

Democratic Rep. Cynthia McKinney thanked Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal and said she was disappointed by Giuliani, who returned the check last week upon learning the prince had suggested U.S. policies toward the Mideast were partly to blame for the Sept. 11 attacks. Alwaleed also said the United States should "adopt a more balanced stance toward the Palestinian cause."

"I think he should have recognized your right to speak and make observations about a part of the world which you know so well," McKinney said in the four-page letter, dated Oct. 12.

McKinney also wrote that she was concerned about reports of "a pattern of excessive, and often indiscriminate, use of lethal force" by Israeli security forces against unarmed Palestinians.

Jewish groups and some of McKinney's colleagues harshly criticized her statements.

Sen. Zell Miller, D-Ga., called the letter "disgraceful."

Mark Moskowitz, director of the Atlanta office of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, said McKinney should not "divide America at a time when we are still mourning the loss of over 6,000 of our citizens."

Hussein Ibish, spokesman for the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, said McKinney was right to defend the prince's comments, even if they were poorly worded.

It took the disgraceful actions of the 'compassionate' liberals toward Clarence Thomas to turn me around.

Come November 2002, it will be interesting to see if the idiots at Emory University in DeKalb Co. Ga. come to their senses and show the 'Cutest Little Commie in Congress' the door.

Please excuse me for "racial profiling", but,........of what ethnic group is Ms. McKinney?

What is the workable definition of treason? Has anyone ever been convicted of it?

Cynthia got into office by tweaking the nose of the patriotic "establishment" during the early days of the Gulf War. Until that time she was just an unknown state legislator riding on the shoulders of her father, another state legislator whose views on social issues were considered conservative. But her public stand against the war effort made her appear heroic to young African-Americans, who turned out in droves to boost her Congressional campaign. (It helped that she was first elected in a gerrymandered district she herself helped to design.)

It appears to me that even though she has no serious opposition to re-election at the moment, she's positioning herself for a repeat of her first run for Congress. Maybe she knows something about prospective opponents that hasn't made the Atlanta papers yet.

My guess-little, idiotic, simpleton Cynthia has dollar signs in her eyes! Bet she has high hopes this rich prince will find a way to ensure her reelection due to her support and sympathy. What a dolt she is. Shameful. Good for Guiliani-it is SO GREAT to have grown-ups running the major show.

I'd sentence the dumb bitch for three months hard labor at Ground Zero. She would get a reprieve only after she filled one truck with American human body parts. No breathing apparatus allowed.

Sen. Zell Miller, D-Ga., called the letter "disgraceful."

I stand corrected. Zell Miller is probably the one person in Georgia politics NOT afraid of Cynthia's daddy.

"...she was concerned about reports of "a pattern of excessive, and often indiscriminate, use of lethal force" by Israeli security forces against unarmed Palestinians.

I guess this stupid bitch is less concerned about indiscriminate use of lethal force against unarmed AMERICAN citizens or guests on American soil.
This "woman" is either too stupid to comprehend the insanity of her "position", or can NEVER think of herself as an American.... This "woman" should NEVER refer to herself as African-American... There is NOTHING American about her...

BTW, Yesterday Boortz said they call her the aisle bird because before a Presidential speech in Congress she will arrive HOURS ahead of time to get an aisle seat so she will look important for the cameras.

True or not, I don't know. [As Boortz says, never beileve anything on the web or anywhere else unless you can verify it from another source.] However, the visual kills me (ha-ha kills me]. I am reminded of the teacher's pet always first in line, or "chosen" to grade the papers for the teacher, so she could be the boss of the class. Just a regular old butt licker.

Also, Does anyone know who released her letter? My understanding is that it was not meant for distribution at home. Did the Saudi prince burn her? One of her staff? Anyone in the know?

Dear Congresswoman, The Mayor is more honest than you.

He at least turned down my donation because he honestly believes that it was wrong to take it due to my comments.

You on the other hand, are an infidel only wanting money for your next campaign. You will lose this campaign as you have no God, you have no morals and you have no brain.

The Saudi Prince
