Reuters Photo
The FBI released this photo on October 16, 2001 showing the letters that were sent to NBC in New York and to Sen. Tom Daschle's office on Capitol Hill and were found to contain the anthrax bacteria. Anthrax was confirmed in the letter opened on October 15 in Daschle's office, but so far none of the staff in that office has tested positive for exposure to the potentially deadly bacteria, Capitol police said. That's really nasty, giving the return address of a grade-school class.

Luckily, there doesn't appear to be a "Greendale School" in Franklin Park, NJ.

I'd guess that the person printed the words on the envelope very slowly and carefully to disguise his natural handwriting. Something else I notice is that the bottome of the Daschle letter seems to have been wetted or had damp contents.

This looks completely different. It also looks as if it was a person who really knew how to write trying to fake their handwriting. Compared to the ones to the Senate, this looks "normal." Standard Zip, the ones aren't "perfect European."

I have to admit, I had really worried that this whole thing might have been domestic conservative/libertarian terrorists. Now I'm not worried. I think that this letter, without anthrax, was from an American who is a f*cking idiot, but not a murdering idiot. And the ones with anthrax were from international terrorists.

Yes...I know it looks different, but it is related to all the letters that have been sent. I thought posting it here for comparison would be a good idea since this letter was in another thread here recently.

I agree, this is probably a right-handed persons writing with their left hand, who had some formal technical drafting training. Remember that Atta guy and his terrorist cell in Hamberg, Germany studied urban planning. Urban planners have to go through architectural drafting classes to develop acceptable lettering. Also urban planners usually use thin felt markers or technical ink pens for their drawings. A technical ink pen would be too destinctive of a clue back to an architecture or urban planner, so they stuck with the thin felt markers, available everywhere.

I would say look for a Jr. College in the Trenton, NJ area that has a drafting department. Princton U. just down the road has an extensive engineering department.

Perhaps the slant can be explained in that the person put the anthrax in first and then got the names and wrote them on the sealed envelopes. (The person would try to shift the powder to a corner while writing)

Look at the numeral 2 on the letters. They are identical. Letters can be more easily disguised but the numbers are less likely to be changed unless someone is really thinking about it... In the letters the only number repeated on both envelopes is the 2! It looks more like an inverted S sor of..

Look at the L in the envelopes too. There is such a similarity that I think the same hand addressed the envelopes. But did that person actually stuff the stuff in them???

They all are written with capital letters.

No big surprise there. The USPS actually prefers that everyone use capital letters (whether hand-written or typed) because it's easier for their letter-sorting machines to read the addresses that way.

Draftsman or engineering.

It couldn't have been an engineer. If it had been an engineer, Brokaw and Daschle would be dead men. Engineers get the job done.

I'm not a handwriting expert, but sure looks like the same person addressed both letters.

I see it too. Notice the slanting address and also the number 2. If you check the letter "A", in one address it always has one short leg while in the other letter there seems to be one letter "A" that is the same as those.

Strange a person would fill in the address by hand.

Looks like the same guy on all three. Note how the city slants down in both the DC and the Fla letters. I don't think it was a draftsman or engineer, have you ever seen how beautifully they print,,they would have it perfectly printed without all the slanting and irregularities. A foreigner and probably one not used to our abc's. And if he licked that stamp, we have his dna. And if he licked that letter to close, we got his dna. And if that is a stock prestamped envelope, can it really be traced? We also probably have dna on some of the terrorists,,they left stuff in their apartments. I think the guy who did this is still alive. And there may be handwriting samples at the places all these guys went, application forms, visa forms, people write their name alot of places.

The St. Petersburg letter looks to me like it was written by an older person, maybe with shaky hands. There's something about it that reminds me of how some of my elderly (bank) customers write.
