Request for comments: new feature
Posted on 10/13/2001 3:17:06 AM PDT by John Robinson
I've been tinkering with a new way to do self-search. It will display the comments as if they were in a thread, but only displays those comments addressed to you or posted by you.
Have a look at it here:
Last 100 posts involving you -- in reverse chronological order, like latest posts
New posts to you (since last time you checked) -- in forward chronological order, like a normal thread
I think this should be listed in forward chrono order, but that might make browsing your self-search awkward.

One other thought: will you update the "find in forum" search on the profile page to look like the new self search?

Ditto on not noticing the link to the thread. I do most of my surfing with the latest Mozilla browser build (Netscapes engine). I've learned to live with the differences.
Jim, you are doing an outstanding job

It's very nice not to have to wade through dozens of posts from people with similar screen names in the self-search-- thanks for including it.

Thanks a lot. I appreciate the extended "TO" field, but it would be better if I can see everyone in the "To" list when I view the post, so that I do not bump someone who is already bumped. Thanks.

This is great! Where else can you beta test software, chat with the developer, and have your ideas and thoughts taken into consideration...all in real time? Thanks John!

opera 5.12.
After reading your reply, I just now popped over to IE 5.5. Wow. It looks TOTALLY different in IE than it does in Opera. In IE there are light blue bars holding the post info, a paragraph break, then the post, then the navigation buttons centered after a paragraph break.
In Opera the first line of the post is right under the "to XXXXX" line, there is no blue bar, and the navigation buttons are left justified.
In IE the text in the blue bars is way small, but I can deal with that.
I guess Opera isn't able to deal with whatever kind of coding you're using.
