Making changes to the Self-Search function, and in particular, how the database is organized in relation to Self-Search.

Self-Searches should now be lightning quick and should span many months. The current index holds about 6 months of data (all I have available.)

The View Replies button...... if you click it, it gives you every reply to that reply? If so, that is REALLY great!

Is there any chance you are going to list the Freep mail we SEND and not just the ones we receive?? Sometimes when I get an answer to a freepmail, I cannot remember exactly what I said in my message.

Currently "to" and "from" searches from latest posts are broken. That will be fixed asap.

Check what John posted on reply #2 of this thread. You can ping a thousand people. The will all be pinged, but only the first 97 characters will show up on the To: header on the thread.

Okay ... I got it.

It is listed in my search only to me ... and then in the thread it ony shows the first 97 characters .... so if I am down the list a ways, I will not see my name on the thread but can presume I am on the list.

Sorry to be slow on the uptake.

Great feature to allow so many names in the BUMP of one ... but one of the good things about the old system was that it kept the thread appearing at the top of the list, so more people could see it over time. Of course, we can still accomplish that with this system, while doing the other (which we couldn't do before).

Way to go!

That's so evil, so... so inspired! I wish I'da thunk it -- I was thinking state-by-state FReepers, but you're right! We could theoretically page every single solitary FReeper with a click of the mouse.

Of course, that would require Jim Robinson making public the roll of screen names -- which he'd rightfully never do -- since once it goes public, maniacs would start paging everyone to every thread.

But, worry not everyone! We'll still scheme on how to use John Robinson's little gadgets here to shake every last nickel out of ya! Let not your collective hearts be troubled!

John: It does seem much quicker & I also like the fact that when you do a 'self search' you don't see all the others flagged along with your own name.

Why do we now need to separate those we flag using a semi colon? As I recall in the 'old style' the comma worked.

I love the new format -- so much faster and you can find replies without reloading some of the large threads that took forever. Looking forward to the Self Search changes as well. You are terrific!

Planned additions: personal bump lists and cc's and bcc's. (Difference between "to" and "cc"--I don't know yet! "bcc" will be a stealth ping, the name will not be listed on the message at all.)
