The Neverending Story
An ongoing debate on Scripture, Tradition, History and Interpretation.

Statesmen may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue. - John Adams

If you are going to bring up the past, we can match you atrocity for atrocity.

As I said before your last rant, this has nothing to do with what I was discussing. I didn't mention any specific "atrocities" (as you did), nor did I bring up the past. I'm talking about a continuing present condition (it is not new).

I believe this because my gut tells me so. I believe good people; good Jews, Catholics, Moslems, Protestants, just plain good people, will not be denied.

Having said this, I accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.

I think I may be in agreement with you on this, although I am just now starting to understand it.

I know the argument will be, that there is only one name whereby a man can be saved, that is the man Christ Jesus.

I believe this is being said to us, the ones who read it and believe it, and not to a Muslim or a Buddhist, or someone who would never have the opportunity to read it, but rely on their own Holy writings to show them the way, but of course that has nothing to do with us, since we are now under the salvation plan of Christ.

ALL CHRISTIANS TRACE THEIR BEGINNING TO THE FORMATION OF THE CHRISTIAN CHURCH.

You are failing to admit what the RC's want us all to believe (as they do), THEY ALONE OWN THE FIRST 1500 YEARS OF CHRISTIANITY. I'm still waiting for them to produce a patent or copyright. I have dealt with them on this issue time and time again (especially when I first started posting). If you go back and read my early posts you will see a lot of this type: "Catholics don't own history!"

I just back tracked through the post to find what you said, and apparently it was the fascist word. I think that RobbieS had all this material stored in a barf bag someplace, just waiting for an opportunity to dump it, and you were the one.

Yes apparently it is the only "defense" he can come up with. So far I have seen no denials or coherent refutations of the "fa" word charge. It sure is telling, isn't it?

That's your make believe reality, not truth.

Ah, Ah, Ah, not so fast. By virtue of disagreeing with you, they are against you. What's that old saying about a man divided against himself - can't stand.. That's truth. Your make believe reality is that it makes any sense. I'm gonna go tell this to my door. At least the noise waves will sink into it.

But then again, if his writings had what they tried to forge into it, then they wouldn't have had to forge it would they

Kinda reminds me of that scene in Braveheart:

"I demand that you recognize these documents"
"Those documents were lies when you wrote them"

LOL

First, it's a bad idea to base eternal destinations on feelings or what we want. Either you believe God (what is written in the Bible) or you don't. Second, as Jesus told us, there is none that are "good" except God. Now believing that there are many, many people who will be damned because they reject Christ, or fail to place their trust in him, is not politically correct these days. But truth is not P.C. these days.

Continuing condition? If you means that we continue to reject lies abou the Catholic Church, that's continuing.

You're in a continuing state of denial. Now where's your defense? Surely you can do better than what you have done so far(which only amounts to counter-charges). I don't deny that many evil things have been done in the name of God, both by RC's and non-catholics. But this is all beside the point.

I think angelo is planning to do one new ongoing thread, so it looks like the thread numbers will become obsolete on FR.

What is it that you are just now starting to understand?

You wrote: How do you answer the reality that your own church fathers speak against you? They speak against each other's ideas. Their ideas conflict with the Bible. Is that just politics?

pegleg wrote: That's your make believe reality, not truth.

Some of their teachings and writings DO contradict each other...on topics such as Peter being the Rock (NOT), the OT canon (apocrypha), the bodily assumption of Jesus' mother, and her immaculate conception, papal infallibility, and so on. (I have learned this from Geisler's book, Catholics and Evangelicals, Agreements and Differences, just so you know my source.)

You wrote: Pilgrim, would the lrtters of Ignatius of Antioch, written while on the way to rome to suffer Martyrdom in the early second century, count?

I'm interested in seeing what writing by Ignatius you have in mind. At ccel.org I found a bunch of his epistles, but I don't know which one I should read about the eucharist. Let me know, OK?

You wrote: Know that you are a sinner, that you cannot save yourself so you need a savior, and that Jesus' died for your sin, and that he rose from the dead as proof that God accpeted the scarafice, and believe that hes's blood is the only thing that will save you.

Why do your words make me weep? They are music to my ears. Blessed Saviour!

How can you guys know so much about the Bible (even contending for it) and yet not believe it? (Forgive me if I have jumped to conclusions....please fill me in.)

What would be more appropriate, Angelo - an example that doesn't hit home?

JMHO, but I think it is best to avoid references to the recent atrocities as comparisons to the positions of those we debate here. If you wish to bring up historical events, fine. But these events are too raw, the situation is ongoing, and we are all on the same side when it comes to fighting the terrorists. Let's not forget that.

I didn't read into it what either of you did. (Thin skin.)

"Thin skin" for reacting to the comparison of any of us to terrorists? If one of the Catholics made this sort of accusation against any of you, I would have reacted in exactly the same way. I thought it was over the line. As I said to Havoc, above, we're all on the same side when it comes to defending our nation.

Forgiven. And understood. Wanted to say that before I get too much further along. I don't want a blow up between me and anyone here standing between us. And I don't want a misunderstanding hanging over your head anymore than I want one hanging over mine or anyone else's.

Thanks, Havoc.
