TEHRAN, Iran -- Iran's supreme leader said in a blistering speech Wednesday that his nation would not participate in any U.S.-led coalition against terrorism, taking a tough line despite many Iranians' expressions of sympathy for Americans.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei called U.S. behavior "disgusting" and said in a state-run television address to the nation that Iran does not consider the United States "competent and sincere (enough) to lead any global campaign against terrorism."

Iran hates us. Iran is a terrorist state. Iran would like nothing better than see more dead Americans.

Will we ever do anything about it? No, we don't have the guts to back up our tough talk and they know it.

It is DISGUSTING that the USA even lowered ourselves to ask for help from such blood-stained hands.

So far I am NOT impressed with Colin Powell even the teensiest bit. Schwarzkopf was right.

Memo to the guy in the bad bathrobe:

As President Bush said- You are either with us, or with the terrorist.

Watch your back!

Powell is working just as hard as anyone else on this and does have some understanding of the situation. This is a bounty hunt for terrorist not world war III. Bush will not tip his hand so no one knows what is going on.

The fact that this is a "bounty hunt" is what bothers me. I still have hopes but this is looking more and more like a hunt for Osama rather than an all out war on terrorism.

We should never, never have even suggested that we would accept help from one of the nations most responsible for terrorism.

We owe Iran big time and this was a golden opportunity to destroy that nest of evil, instead we ask them for help.

Pitiful!

I think it would be a perfect place to make a parking lot
for all the UN Vehicles. One large egg should do the trick.

Sure glad some freepers are not involved in foreign policy. If we had put Iran immediately on the list with Bin Laden and Iraq after their initial reaction, we would have looked like we hold a grudge (which we do!) so instead they start talking about Iran helping, Britain sends an envoy, and now the hardliners have taken over and we are free to put them on the enemy list where they should have been all along.

Personally I think it was a smart move and backed Iran into a corner where their true allegiance would be shown! If people think that anyone in this Administration thought Iran was sincere then I have a bridge in Brooklyn for sale!

"Iran Won't Help U.S."

Did anybody in the Bush Administration or on FreeRepublic actually think that Iran would help America wage war against the Islamic crazies? Hell, Iran sponsers them! Iran should and must be on the target list!

Of course Iran wasn't going to help the US. They're terrorists themselves, they fund Hizbollah in Lebanon against Israel, and probably as happy as ticks over what happened on 9-11. If the mullahs ever get removed from the gov't and the elected leaders of Iran run the place, there might be hope. But as long as the mullahs control the gov't, expecting any human concern and conpassion from these charlatans will be unrealistic and foolish......

After thinking about it for a few minutes I believe you are totally wrong. We should never have gone, hat in hand, to Iran. you are right, it does make it look like we don't hold a grudge but in this case it also makes us look weak. We not only should hold a grudge, we should let the world know we hold a grudge.

I voted for Bush and will probably vote for him again. I am still hopeful but that hope is fading fast. It is looking more and more like a very limited action when what is needed is an all out war.
