NASA is currently working on adaptive wings to eliminate control surfaces entirely (hollywood should have left them off this mockup, too). This would solve the "Flaps becoming slats" problem.
The real problem is shown in the Pictures. What Would normally be a massive titanium structure where the Wing root would attach to the fuselage is completely nonexistant. The Swept wing pictures shows NO wing root attachments to withstand torsional loads when the wings are extended. Just a rotation point near the leading edge.
It would have been cool if they had incorporated something, because it looks like the rear stablilarors fold down to become the trailing edge of the swept wing and the wing root mount could have locked these together, also.
Straight to video movie.
yawn.
Beat me to it.
Then they wouldn't be chest beaters, DUH!
Why can that make a fake movie aircraft the looks aerodynamically viable Mach 4, stealth with those big ugly intakes and drag I think not ....it looks as bad as "FireFox"
WOW! She looks like that and can fly a jet fighter also?
Could an air plane like this even achieve flight?
I know this is a fake, just the aerodynamics looks to be all wrong.
No, it bears a resemblance to this concept by northrop grumman:

I usually never believe these type of sites. But it did provide a patent number of 5,984,231. So I went to the US patent office web site and hot damn the patent does exist.
Here is the patent to it which was filed by northrop grumman:

On that page, click on "images" on the top of the page for more info.
Now, this is only a concept. So it is not a given this will ever be seen in the US arsenal. But at least their is that possibility.
Quite a few Betty's flying Hornets, Tomcats and Prowlers off of carrier decks.
The Air Force doesn't operate fixed wing aircraft from carrier decks.
Ping. Plot gimmick from a movie coming out next year. Pilot ain't Juliet Lima Hotel, but she's cute, and the plane looks REALLY KEWL, DOOD!
What the hell is that thing, and where is R2 D2??
Single seat F-5s not T-38s.
Not to mention the tie-down chains.
Female pilots make Iberians HOT,HOT HOT HOT. :)
Not only that, but she's a distinguished vampire hunter, is attending college, and once spent her summer in Texas fleeing from a chainsaw wielding madman.
SOP to paint name and call sign below canopy.
Then, I'll take 2 pilots and lose the plane.
