The City Council of Hamtramck, Michigan approved an amendment to the city's noise ordinance to allow the Muslim call to prayer over loudspeakers 5 times daily, from 6 a.m. - 10 p.m. The new ordinance takes effect May 26. Nonie Darwish writes the following:
I am not a Michigan citizen either, and these days I don't have any faith in elected officials. Keeping watch, and speaking out in our own area is more than most people do these days... re the "elected official" topic, I fear we have given too much power to these lazy saps, who for the most part, seem to be interested only in the power and/or perks their elected position gives them ... I want more issues brought to referendum, as long as the options for solutions are well reasoned and thoughtful. Will we ever get that, though?

This is what concerns me the most about Islam. When it comes to their faith the Muslims are like pitbulls, they won't give an inch. And their numbers are increasing. Meanwhile, Christians of the world are growing tepid in the faith, as we give up more and more ground to those who would outlaw all public expression of religion, (which always turns out to be public expression of CHRISTIANITY). And our numbers are on the decline. If it continues on like this, it doesn't take a genius to see the eventual outcome. Though Christ triumphs and crushes His enemies in the end, somewhere along the line our children may see an Islamicized world before this happens. Here is a quote from the "holy" koran:
"Pagans indeed are those who say that GOD is a third of a trinity. There is no god except the one god. Unless they refrain from saying this, those who disbelieve among them will incur a painful retribution." (Sura 5, Verse 73)
Clearly, Islam sees Christians, Jews and Western man as their perpetual enemy, to them we are nothing but "infidels". Pray for President Bush, and pray for victory in Iraq.
If Abdul will pray, to a glowing crater.

Why that would be a violation of the separation of Church and State.
Any word on when the "call to pray" starts to be enforced, or who will do the enforcing?
End terrorism, kill terrorists.
I think some churches should test the waters and ring their bells at the same time as the Muslim calls to prayer. Fair is only fair right? If the city council complains...the churches should reply.."Hey, you let the Muslims do it..we shall do it too!"
Islam is out to Islamicize the west.
Our own lack of fervor in defending the faiths of our fathers, the collapse of a strong theologically based Christian clergy, the tolerance of Jews for "minority" rights, are all playing into the hands of the people who are out to destroy us, our religion, our culture, our society, and our nation.
Allowing a Muslim call to prayer over loudspeakers in an American city is tantamount to having permitted prayers for the Emperor in Japan in the U.S. in WW2.
The U.S. should stop permitting any Islamic moisques or madrasshes from operating in the U.S. which are funded, led, or tied in any way to the Wahhabist extremists in Saudi Arabia.
I am sure this is a major factor in startinng up with the loudspeakers. The saracens want a homogenous community so that their youth have less contact with America and Americans. It will be easier to raise up holy warriors and suicide bonbers that way.
After a while NPR will do a respectfully delighted piece on the diversity in Hammtramck, Michigan.
It only has to reach critical mass in the LP then it will be legislated down on top of you by the egislature. 5 years to sharia?
Environmental wrath is always selective in its application. The greenies will NOT oppose anything Mohammedan because they are allies in the same cause, the destruction of Western Civilization and especially its most virulent manifestation, America.
"I'd have my house up for sale if I was anywhere in earshot of this thing - hell I'd just burn my house and collect the insurance money to get the hell out of there."
Surrender and fraud, eh? Thank God we are not relying on you when the inevitable conflict comes.
I'm guessing at least 250 years . . .
Some of the more talented muezzins do not need a PA. In parts of the world where people have had a need to be eard over long distances they develop the ability. Many muezzins can be heard for blocks. Yodelers are famous in the world. In Viet Nam I was fascinated that many of the rural women could call and be heard over great distances without seeming to exert much effort. They don't yell, they just sort of squeeze their voice boxes down or something. Among the emigres here that generation seems to have died off but a few years ago one could hear it here.
That would just amplify the muezzin's call. He will be heard over any bells and the bells will call attention to him.
Won't work. See #99
