W.Va. should tax tobacco products according to risks In doing so, WV would imply the taxes collected will be used to mitigate and/or treat the problems resulting from said risks.
Somehow, I doubt that is or would be the case.

I'm a non-smoking West Virginian who opposes any additional tobacco taxes for a simple reason: cigarettes here are pretty darned cheap, compared to our neighboring states. If that means folks from Pa. or Ohio or wherever wait till they're in W.Va. to buy their smokes, great. Maybe they'll buy a few other things while they're here. Heaven knows we can use the sales tax revenue wherever we can get it (thanks to our Democrat governor and legislature, we're some $120 million in the red).

But you have the right idea! While they cross the borders into WVA, they WILL buy other stuff. So WVA is making out!

Swedish men have the lowest rates of lung cancer -- indeed, of all smoking-related deaths -- in the developed world. She, I think this line is BS. The last I heard Japan had the lowest rates of smoking related deaths AND the longest lived smokers generally.
And the Japanese smoke like fiends.

Well, you KNOW "they" don't think that "we" read everything and they lie and spin and throw that garbage out there hoping that we, the sheeple, will believe it!

Another thing, Joe: there is a TRUTH ad on TV now that is saying that "50,000 people die a DAY from SHS!" Can you believe this BS???????
If 50,000 die a DAY from smoking and 50,000 die a DAY from SHS, why is our welfare rate so high and there aren't enough JOBS for everyone! Something doesn't add up here.

Use a bit of reasoning here. How can you say that someone has died from SHS? In fact, how can you sat that ANYONE has died from SHS? Do you just attribute all deaths from any disease that smoking increases the risk of to SHS? That's a bit less that honest. 50% of all statistics are made up on the spot.

That gang, THE TRUTH, USE no reasoning. They spew their lies and the networks are stupid enough to put the ads on. I hate The Truth. A bunch of assinine kids probably reaping money from the smoker's tax dollars!

Harvard University proved years ago that SHS was harmless...I think it was around 1985-86.
1/100th of a cigarette was all that was ingested over a 24 hour period, with no ventilation! The study was buried due to pressure and a reported endowment.
To: international american
a reported endowment. Oh yes! From the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. BIG bucks!

That is the same reason I will be buried. Headlines will read, "CSM Buried Today, Hugh and Series Endowment Involved!"

The problem, IA, is no money to produce, let alone get them on the air.
And could you imagine the pressure any network, local station, or cable station would get from the antis to NOT air the ads????

I would love to see a tv ad aimed at the smoke nazis .........................PROVE IT!!!! Dream on! So would WE. But what news outlet would ever put that on? I bet not one. We'd have to pay DOUBLE the regular amount for the ads. We just don't have the funds. :(
