Does anyone know how cold it is in the winter in S.D.????
The same as in norhtern Maine! And to make them step outside to smoke.......well, if I had that problem "I" woudn't go either!
The lawmakers are trying to make it more miserable then ever for smokers.........but they sure can't live without smokers TAX dollars to balance their budgets!
SMOKERS! WAKE UP! Buy from the net or roll your own. Stop putting your money in the state coffers! This will hurt them in their "pocketbooks," that's for sure!

As an ex-smoker, who smoked for 18 years, I really have no sympathy for smokers who feel alienated. It is an extremely difficult habit to give up, but it can be done. It takes a real desire and determination.

It's especially hard to give up when you ENJOY it! My Dad used to smoke 3 packs a day. One day, he got up and said the he really hated it! And he never smoked a day after that. And that was before the days of the over priced patch and Nicorette Gum!
You really have to hate it to quit. If you really enjoy it, then of course, it's going to be hard to give up. Personally, I LOVE to smoke! I am not obese and that is the only "bad habit," (if you can CALL it that) that I have.

I dont know about anyone else on this forum, but I am sick and tired of our rights being taken away by dictators who have infiltrated our judicial system.
It is time to fight back. Homos and their apologists are allowed to break the law with impunity. Something is very fishy.

Some of us dont want to be TOLD by THE GOVERNMENT how to live our lives. Because of this smoking thing, Overweight is next, next is we will be REQUIRED to excersize in the square every morning like the CHINESE of old.
Sure smoking is bad, but the science is wrong. Not every smoker gets lung cancer, not every smoker gets emphyzema, and Second Hand Smoke fatality is NON EXISTANT!

Others said this is no time to reverse progress made in 2002 when legislators banned smoking in most public places. Opponents of HB1086 also said that allowing smoking at meetings for people with alcohol, drug and gambling addictions would cause many nonsmokers to avoid the meetings. But it's OK to make it even more uncomfortable for smokers so they avoid the meetings? Where is the logic in this?
As to their claim about "public places"......One of the successes of AA is in it's anonymity.......it's not public, it is a very, very private thing.

Needs to be emphasized, giving the government the ability to take your freedom is not a good idea. Even the innocent car seat belt was a bad idea. (If it was a good idea, it would have happened without the government.) Over weight is next, as soon as the government figures out that they could tax the overweight with an annual weigh in. (don't let them know about this). Duh, its too late.

This started me thinking after Rush was debunking the 'addiction' angle..
Fact is few people sucessfully quit due to social pressure, those who WANT to quit usually do without much ado.
It's a smelly, awful habit, but I enjoy it and try to minimize other's discomfort.
The 'quitters' I know are usually outside the bar bumming smokes because they"only smoke when they're out".

I suppose that you don't have any sympathy for the owners of private property that can no longer allow a legal activity to occur on their own property.

What's next, government mandated diets? With titles like these, be afraid, be very afraid!

What the heck do you think these bans are? The owner of the property should be able to decide if the AA groups can smoke. Just because an invitation is extended and accepted to enter onto the private property does not make that property "public". It is still private and we should be able to be secure in our private property rights.

Proving the adage: "there's nothing worse than an ex-smoker." Yup. The smell and the sight of a cigarette hanging out of someone's mouth is really disgusting to an ex-smoker, and it makes the ex-smoker grateful that he was able to kick the nasty habit!!
