As an ex-smoker, who smoked for 18 years, I really have no sympathy for smokers who feel alienated. It is an extremely difficult habit to give up, but it can be done. It takes a real desire and determination.

It's especially hard to give up when you ENJOY it! My Dad used to smoke 3 packs a day. One day, he got up and said the he really hated it! And he never smoked a day after that. And that was before the days of the over priced patch and Nicorette Gum!
You really have to hate it to quit. If you really enjoy it, then of course, it's going to be hard to give up. Personally, I LOVE to smoke! I am not obese and that is the only "bad habit," (if you can CALL it that) that I have.

Some of us dont want to be TOLD by THE GOVERNMENT how to live our lives. Because of this smoking thing, Overweight is next, next is we will be REQUIRED to excersize in the square every morning like the CHINESE of old.
Sure smoking is bad, but the science is wrong. Not every smoker gets lung cancer, not every smoker gets emphyzema, and Second Hand Smoke fatality is NON EXISTANT!

I suppose that you don't have any sympathy for the owners of private property that can no longer allow a legal activity to occur on their own property.

Proving the adage: "there's nothing worse than an ex-smoker."
