Always loved the Cav hat. Beats hell out of the Frenchie beret.

An interim step. Too soon to make it a turban.

I figured the ROE’s in Afghanistan made it more acceptable to wear what Custer’s boys wore at Little Big Horn.

Not real. Army article dated 1 April 2011 and last sentence of article says that the implementation date will be April Fools’ Day, 2012.

Ok, April Fools, but IF they were to do this would gays be allowed to decorate theirs with flowers?

They should give the generals dunce-caps. How many more years in Afghanistan? They ought to take every admiral and general now, and over the past eight years, and drop their sorry butts into Afghanistan. Can’t figure out how to win this? What are we paying you for? All flag officers to Afghanistan. The fighting would be done in three months.

Ha! My son just told me about this, and I had to see for myself!
After reading the story, I saw the explanation in the very last sentence of the article.
"The Army's official adoption date of the Stetson will be April Fool's Day, 2012."

I'm still PO'ed that the Army (Secretary?) took the Rangers' black beret and gave it to every swinging d**k and t*t in the entire branch. A beret meant elite. I liked the "piss-cutters" for the regular Army. This is from an ex-aviation swabby who had to wear that goofy "dixie-cup" when not in working dungerees with a ballcap cover.
That said, I do like the new blue digital Navy working uniform with the pointed ball-cap. But the Navy's other uniforms still require the silly white cup on the head. Yes, I like tradition, but come on, a bowl on the head?
