 To our veterans - Thank You  Veterans Day A day set aside to honor our country's living veterans. At the Foxhole honoring veterans is a major part of our mission. Whereas we will not forget those who died or our POW/MIAs, and those who are currently serving, today we specifically honor those men and women living among us who have served our country in times past, our living veterans. Especially here at the Foxhole we are blessed to have veterans as part of our Foxhole family both as readers and contributors.  We would like to welcome all our veterans to the Foxhole on this very special day as we attempt to honor you and thank you for your service to our country. Freedom is not free and our debt to you and those gone before you can never fully be paid. May God richly bless you all. Welcome home and we will never forget. I got home too late (dark) to move the feeder but will try again tomorrow. The whole reason for wanting a woodpecker feeder was because I'd see them on my wood-shingle rooftop pecking away at bugs or something.
Hopefully, the move will bring them in . . . as for the peanut feeder it's a battle between the Scrubjays and Sqwirls. We just purchased some dried Fox piss to keep the sqwirls out of our gardens. Hope it works for the peanut feeder as well.

About the Fox pee. LOL. I'm sorry, it's cracking me up. Fox pee in the Foxhole...
Anyway, I hear you have to keep spraying that stuff to keep it working. Are the squirrels destroying the garden and/or just eating the birdseed?
btw, the woodpeckers were eating bugs.

Shooting for no good reason is wrong, sporting is okay, hurt my dog or other loved one and I'll shoot you.

It's now in the "new and improved" powder form! What you do is hang these plastic packets in popular locations, perforate the tops of the packets to let the stink out (and mercy does it smell!) and they're good for 90 days. After 90 days, you can then sprinkle the powder around the perimeter of your gardens and get another 30 days of stench depending on watering.
Yeah, the little pricks have been digging up our Autumn planting of seeds and bulbs for the Spring. It's really quite aggravating . . . hopefully this method will work.
They even have pictures in the instructions of how people hang them on their bird feeders as birds can't smell it but the sqwirls do and stay away. I, however, have awesome bird feeders that the sqwirls can't get to.

I'll be interested in knowing if it works. When all else fails, you'll have to start feeding the squirrels their own food.

The Right Focus

We call life's older years the "sunset years." But are they really that rosy? For some, they are. But for many others, even Christians, the sunset years may become clouded with bitterness or despair.
To minimize this, we must make it our goal early in life to get the right focus. Robert Kastenbaum understood this. He wrote, "I do feel an increased sense of responsibility to this future self and to all those who cross my path. What kind of old man will I be, given the chance? The answer to that question depends largely on the kind of person I am right now."
As I have observed contented older people, I've learned that it is our focus more than our feelings that determines the sort of people we are. I once visited a godly woman in her nineties who was feeling her age in every joint and organ. "Old age ain't for sissies!" she groaned honestly. Then, as always, her groans gave way to praise for God's goodness. A focus of gratitude, begun early in life, parted the clouds and let the sun shine through.
What is your focus today, regardless of your feelings? Is it one of gratitude for Jesus and His gift of eternal life? If so, you'll grow sweeter as you grow older. —Joanie Yoder

Security in Great Britain
The British are feeling the pinch in relation to recent bombings and have raised their security level from 'Miffed' to 'Peeved'. Soon though, security levels may be raised yet again to 'Irritated' or even 'A Bit Cross'. Londoners have not been 'A Bit Cross' since the blitz in 1940 when tea supplies all but ran out.
Terrorists have been re-categorised from 'Tiresome' to a Bloody Nuisance'. The last time the British issued a 'Bloody Nuisance' warning level was during the great fire of 1666.
Also, the French government announced yesterday that it has raised its terror alert level from 'Run' to 'Hide'. The only two higher levels in France are 'Surrender' and 'Collaborate'. The rise was precipitated by a recent fire that destroyed France's white flag factory, effectively paralyzing the country's military capability.
It's not only the English and French who are on a heightened level of alert. Italy has increased the alert level from 'Shout Loudly and Excitedly' to 'Elaborate Military Posturing'. Two more levels remain, 'Ineffective Combat Operations' and 'Change Sides'.
The Germans also increased their alert state from 'Disdainful Arrogance' to 'Dress in Uniform and Sing Marching Songs'. They have two higher levels : 'Invade a Neighbour' and 'Lose'.
