A squad of Marines drove up the highway between Basra and Baghdad. They came upon an Iraqi soldier badly injured and unconscious.
Nearby on the opposite side
of the road was an American Marine in a similar state, but he was alert. As first aid was
given to both men, they asked the injured Marine what happened. The Marine responded "I was heavily armed and moving north along
the highway. Coming south was a heavily armed Iraqi soldier".
"What happened then?" the corpsman asked.
"I told him Saddam Hussein was a miserable piece of crap and then the Iraqi told me that Tom Daschle, Ted Kennedy and Bill Clinton
were miserable pieces of crap!"
"What happened then?" the corpsman asked.
" We were shaking hands when a truck hit us."

LOL! There was a version of that going around about Ho Chi Minh and LBJ in my Vietnam days.

Spider boy is good with that camera. Does Ben go for rides or jump out as soon as it's moving?

Those now-dead white men were courageous beyond compare. I'm so very thankful to them.

I learn something every day at the Foxhole. I believe that two other VC's were awarded to the 24th after Isandhlwana. To Lts Melvill and Coghill for saving the Queen's colour. Both KIA.
Their VC's are proudly displayed at the 24th's Museum in Brecon. I visited it in 1985.

From Foxhole FReeper Humal;
They had the official flag folding ceremony this morning at the three services in our church, Roseland United Methodist Church, Roseland, Florida. Unfortunately, the pictures aren't as good as I had wished. I missed the Boy Scouts in their uniforms, and the flag folders at my service didn't wear uniforms (couldn't get them on!). I am attaching a few from today's service, and a few from the "unofficial" flag ceremony.
Some of those turned out better than today's. Rev. Gary Isner told the symbolism of the folds to the flag. I had given him a copy of the post
VANITY- Folding the flag; an uplifting read.
The whole service was very impressive! Our music minister played a medley of songs that are the official songs of the different services (Army, Navy, Marines, and Air Force). Since the rendition didn't include the Merchant Marines or Coast Guard, anyone having served in those services were asked to stand first. At the conclusion, the widows/widowers of any service person was honored.

Afternoon Matt.
Kosciuszko and Pulaski were "big" in Chicago when I was growing up, their contributions to our Revolution was taught in the schools.
