After our house burned down in Wisconsin a few months ago, my husband and I packed our four young kids and all our belongings into a gold minivan and drove to my sister-in-laws place, just outside of Atlanta. On the back windshield, we pasted six stick figures: a dad, a mom, three young girls, and one baby boy.
That minivan was sitting in the front driveway of my sister-in-laws place the night a SWAT team broke in, looking for a small amount of drugs they thought my husbands nephew had. Some of my kids toys were in the front yard, but the officers claimed they had no way of knowing children might be present. Our whole family was sleeping in the same room, one bed for us, one for the girls, and a crib.
After the SWAT team broke down the door, they threw a flashbang grenade inside. It landed in my sons crib.
Flashbang grenades were created for soldiers to use during battle. When they explode, the noise is so loud and the flash is so bright that anyone close by is temporarily blinded and deafened. Its been three weeks since the flashbang exploded next to my sleeping baby, and hes still covered in burns.
Theres still a hole in his chest that exposes his ribs.

How does opposition to the War on Drugs make anybody pro-drug? Hmmm?
Spare me. Libertopians are tiresome. We all know what they want and they like to parse words.
Does one have to be “Pro Drugs” to believe in Free Choice and let Darwin sort it out. Sorry to ask but I have never ever read anywhere in History where Prohibition of Anything has ever worked, and Prohibition ALWAYS gives rise to a POLICE STATE.
Sig Heil
“This country is plagued with SWATs, and we need to make ending them a political issue. Free people shouldnt stand for this kind of government brutality, much less support it.”
That still leaves us with men who have no compunction about tossing grenades into homes. 50 years ago you would have had too look a long time to find men who would do these things in America...and you wouldn’t have found very many of them even on police forces.
blah blah
Are you in favor of prohibiting it to minors? and why?
A: “Yes (for a while), but ONLY because we know we would never win if we admitted we oppose that too”
Do you really think we won’t get tyranny and a police state with drugs legalized?
seriously?
If so, you are an idiot
But they won't escape being accused of it.
Who is a “Libertopian”. Is one on this thread?
This and the 96 year old getting blown away at the nursing home.
Libertarians will accuse a conservative who wants to gut the government by 99% of being a Statist tyrant if he opposes drugs, gay marriage and open borders.
They don’t seem to have much problem aligning with the pro-drug, pro-pervert, pro-illegal Democrats in Colorado and Washington States.
This is interesting. I have noted current college age people while often corrupt and dissipated in their personal lives are timid and passive. Coming of age in the 60’s was the opposite. Even rightists or neo-cons, as I was then, were fairly combative and often did not accept statements as ex cathedra. Why are people so weak and soft today, especially with an economy in shambles and an obviously corrupt oligarchy lording it over regular people?
Speak harshly to a young person, other than a blackamoor, today and they will shrink from snapping back. What is going on?
So you support throwing grenades at children? You’re sick.
Locally, the nearby urban PD has taken delivery of 20 some MRAPs, which will be ready when the PD starts that crackdown on studded snow tires after the 1st of April... (Hey it's all they have.)
It is just a dodge that means "I can't support my opinion so I will call you a name". Gerry loves it when jackboots kill citizens he disagrees with. Because he is a "real conservative" doncha know.
You would be the sick one for suggesting others support that.
Ruby Ridge comes to mind. Also Waco. Our government is out of control.
When cops gang up, they are worse than gangs. Breaking up and limiting SWATS, in addition to tightly restricting their use, would end a great deal of gangland style brutality from our police forces. As long as the drug war and other “wars on” passions are a part of our national neurosis, stupid violence from out-of-control police will continue, but there are things states and communities can do to improve matters.
Police state tactics are happening and have little to do with “war on drugs”. Nobody supports SWAT team tactics to pick up a suburban small-time dealer.
But the idea that drugs should be legal should be a non-starter. It is asinine.
They're for the children.
