The US Patriot Act was used AGAIN to incarcerate the juvenile & model citizen for months without being charged with a crime! Arrested March 5 not indicted until July 9 10th
He is detained on the basis of "good faith" beliefs on the part of the investigators, as permitted under the Patriot Act, rather than the normal legal standard of "probable cause" to suspect his commission of a crime.
Fact: Ashton has an airtight alibi for the night he supposedly made a threat against Purdue University in Indiana; while the real perps go free to brag about hacking his skype online!
16-year-old told the judge he needs dental work and education that he can only get outside the youth detention center where he has been since March But they STILL refuse to let him out!
Whether this case is a hoax or not, I have always been and am still against the “patriot” act. It is nothing more than a Janet Reno justice department attempted power grab re-packaged and rushed through right after 9/11.
I bet this is costing his parents a bundle of money to defend him,too.

Same here. Lots of alleged "conservatives" were all for it as long as we had a republican administration.
Some still are for it... but they were never CONSERVATIVE to start with... just rightwing statists...
When I read the first two posts here, I went searching the internet, too. I remembered this story being posted here before, and there was some skepticism about it then, too. I’m glad to see some of you beat me to it by posting the “rest of the story.”
You're new here. Some of us were just pinged to this thread today, which is why this response to your post (quoted above) is four days late. But, you need to know the rest of this story. And, because other people read this forum, I want this on record:
First, FR is for conservatives, not "white conservatives" only. There are people here of different backgrounds. And please don't assume this boy and his family are conservative, either. Given what we're hearing and seeing, they're not conservative at all.
Secondly, the left-wing/Democrat-leaning blogs were screaming about this story. Yes, there are some valid concerns raised about the Patriot Act, but, it turns out, the Patriot Act was not used in this case after all. See link below:

There were no charges filed against the teen for over 2 months; while he remained incarcerated
So what did they use to pick him up on then if not the Patriot Act?
