By now, readers will know who I favor in the Democratic race. Here's my most considered case. But what of the GOP? For me, it comes down to two men, Ron Paul and John McCain. That may sound strange, because in many ways they are polar opposites: the champion of the surge and the non-interventionist against the Iraq war; the occasional meddling boss of Washington and the live-and-let-live libertarian from Texas. But picking a candidate is always a mix of policy and character, of pragmatism and principle. And what these two mavericks share, to my mind, is a modicum of integrity.

“I certainly haven’t seen any little gay, loafer-wearing, pink-tie-sporting, latte-sipping weinies around here,...”
You haven’t? When did the Air Force change their duty uniform? (Just kidding.)

He never was one in the 1st place.

He’s dead, Jim.
I appreciate Ms. Sullivan putting this absurd phrase early in her piece, so I knew when to stop reading.
I remember, long ago, I used to read Sullivan and even agree with Sullivan. He was great blasting Algore in the aftermath of the Florida 2000 debacle. But now? He’s worse than self-parody. I kinda feel bad for him. Aids seems to have blighted his common-sense. His ridiculous book tries to make the case that he’s a conservative because he says so, and because he read Michael Oakeshott, and even Edmund Burke would embrace gay marriage. I agree, Andrew, you are the kind of conservative who could endorse John Kerry.
There’ll be more..
I’m also the former President of the [University of Louisville] College Republicans and I am absolutely puzzled by all of the anti-Ron Paul posts here.
Have any of you Ron Paul haters actually explored his positions, without the FOX News/CNN lenses? He wants to ABOLISH the income tax, ABOLISH the IRS, ABOLISH the departments Education, Energy, and HHS, and RESTORE the Constitution.
Give the man a chance.

If would like to hear a good discussion on where Neo-Conservative polices are leading us, go to Aynrand.org and listen to the below video.
The Neo-Con's have no intention of 'winning' the WOT by destroying the enemy, but only want to 'democratize' the world as did Woodrew Wilson and FDR.
Amid the self-doubt and anti-Americanism paralyzing the nation after 9/11, Neoconservative intellectuals appeared self-confident and pressed for military action. Since then they have become architects of U.S. foreign policy. They support the Bush administration's campaign to plant "freedom" in the Middle East. To secure our "national interest," they argue, America must assert its unrivaled military power throughout the world. Despite their tough-sounding policies, however, Neoconservatives in fact reject the moral need to pursue only America's self-interest, and instead urge us to sacrifice ourselves in order to bring "democracy" to the world. While U.S. troops are dying in the campaign to "liberate" Iraq, ominous threats to our security are left to fester: Iran, the arch-sponsor of Islamic terrorism, is chasing nuclear weapons with undiminished vigor. And the grisly terrorist bombings in Londonlike those in Madrid last yearportend further suicide attacks on U.S. soil. Who are the Neoconservatives, and where are they leading us? In this talk Dr. Brook critiques Neoconservative foreign policy, exposes the real meaning of their vaunted patriotism, and argues that their policies will lead to failure in America's war against Islamist totalitarians.
Really? Just a few days ago you said you were a Rudy supporter, then you said you just now converted to Paul (and Keyes) after seeing the debate..
Oh, never mind, I see you’ve been zotted.. I guess you are as fake as your so called conversion from Rudy to Paul in the past several days.
Looks like a twofer. Something called “terrorslayer” rode the lightning, also.
Please let me know if you want ON or OFF my Viking Kitty/ZOT ping list!. . . don't be shy.
I love the smell of two-fer in the evening :>)
