[young womwn] Learn domestic skills instead of how to more artistically paint your face! Learn to be a servant instead of how to compete and be brash and bold.

Many fundamentalist preachers I know could learn how to eat a salad. Know what I mean?

Painting the face may not be as bad as overfilling the belly... ya think?

What a strange non-sequitur. And as to your question, I think not. Gluttony is a sin, but leading others into sexual temptation is a much worse sin. Besides, looking at the younger generation who have been misled by American culture, not only could they learn some moral guidelines, but they could use to eat a few salads of their own. The obesity rate among young people is a national crisis. My teen-age daughter and I were discussing it just this afternon at lunch.

Moreover, the fact that Americans are ballooning into gross obesity is directly related to the breakdown of traditional family life. Family meals have been replaced by McDonalds. Certainly one of the very first responsibilities of all wives and mothers is to prepare and present healthful, nourishing food to their families. If Americans are beginning more and more to resemble Goodyear blimps, then the situation described in the article above is the first place to look for the cause.

It has something to do with what the anti-family multinational food cartels are putting in the food. Christians would be wise to investigate this and offer their own natural food free from these toxins.

So wearing any make-up all is a sin? Or is it a certain anount and kind of makeup that crosses the line. Is clearsil over a zit a sin? A covered zit might enhance sexual attraction, you know.

Is well comber and styled hair on a woman sin? Would a uncombed head of hair be more godly?

The issue is intent. If one enhances their looks to sexually incite others (spouse not included here), it is wrong. But why is ugly and repulsive more spiritual?

My wife is one of these Godly women. Can you please say a prayer for her. She has been diagnosed with a serious cancer. Maybe God wants to take the good ones.

You seem to be having an inordinate amount of difficulty with a relatively simple concept. This professed confusion acts as a distraction from the message of the posted article. You're a protestant minister. Why don't you read the relevant verses of Scripture and come to some conclusions?

But why is ugly and repulsive more spiritual?

Who says that a woman painted to look like a whore is more beautiful? No, she is sending a message, but she is not more beautiful. A woman with the "unfailing beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit" is many times over more attractive than some woman dressed to look like the current "pop tart" on the music charts. A woman with a soul that is filled with the grace of God will radiate beauty that cannot be duplicated by Revlon.

Tammy Faye Baker was a scandal to Christians everywhere.

How sad for you. Yes, I promise that she will be included in the intentions of our family rosary tonight.

Maybe God wants to take the good ones.

Certainly there is some truth to that. Suffering can be a mark of God's favor. Suffering is essential to holiness. Those who think they can escape suffering are fooling themselves. What they are really escaping are the opportunities that God wanted to offer them for their own sanctification.

We are now informed that Christians have about as many divorces as unregenerate folks
(about 50%). All is not well in the American Christian home!

And some of the regions with highest divorce rates are in "The Bible Belt".
IIRC, sociologist James Q. Wilson (1/2 the team that came up with the "Broken Windows"
theory of societal decay) said that Tulsa, OK was the divorce capital of the USA.
(This was on The Dennis Prager Show about 2 years ago, IIRC.)

(For those not familiar with James Q. Wilson, he's a rational sociologist, despite
doing time as a professor at UCLA. He, along with basketball coach John Wooden
got their medals from Pres. Bush recently.)

Who is advocating looking like Tammy Faye or painting "to look like a whore"?

You avoided my questions: ***So wearing any make-up all is a sin? Or is it a certain anount and kind of makeup that crosses the line. *** How about an answer?

***You're a protestant minister. Why don't you read the relevant verses of Scripture and come to some conclusions?***

I have read the passages and have drawn conclusions. Is it OK if my conclusions don't fit yours?

Oh, another side-bar on James Q. Wilson.
In the interview on the Prager show, he noted that his daughter, as well as
most of her female college class-mates (at one of the Ivy League schools) have
taken a course that they'd not considered at graduation.

Most have become stay-at-home mothers.

Tammy Faye Baker was a scandal to Christians everywhere.

We agree, but not as much a scandal as priests raping little boys

The "scandal " of the Bakers was not her make up. It was greed and sexual sin. It was taking money from little old ladies and building an air conditioned dog house with the funds. Poor Tammy was an insecure woman that thought she actually looked better with tons of makeup.

We are surely blessed that God looks on the heart and not the Max Factor

Modesty in dress is essential, but if you go too far in the other direction, you end up with the burka.

Exactly. There is a breed of fundamentalists that dictate the dress of women (skirts no pants, no makeup, long hair etc) as if that makes them holy. Holiness is a condition of the heart..

I fear that these men know they can not control their sexual desires..so like the Muslims they will make the women bear the responsibility for THEIR lust

If a woman has a heart directed to Christ, she will be holy in her dress. But we must not judge the heart of the woman by the amount of makeup she wears.

Remember what Jesus told the Pharisees?

Mat 23:26 [Thou] blind Pharisee, cleanse first that [which is] within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.
